Hun Sen on report of revenue loss over beer smuggling: Deny! Deny! Deny!

Cambodian PM refuses report of revenue loss over beer smuggling

The government can't accept a recent report saying it lost over 20 million U.S. dollars annually for tax revenues over beer smuggling from Thailand and Singapore, said Prime Minister Hun Sen on Wednesday.

"The study is a waste of money. It is an unacceptable report," said Hun Sen, while referring to the Economic Institute of Cambodia (EIC), an independent economic think tank, who said that Cambodia lost 22 million U.S. dollars for tax revenues over beer smuggling last year.

"Their report aims at blaming the government," he said.

With the lost money, Cambodia can buy enough beer for its people to drink and even have shower with it, he quipped.

The report has been widely published on local media, saying that the smuggled brew accounted for 29 percent of the country's total beer market, far outstripping the legal imports at six percent.

It blamed the boom of contraband beer on weak government and law enforcement.

Ignorant leader has never accepted any mistakes or said thank to other's advice, but replied with raged and illogical responding...

He just said the research aimed to blame government, but he has not showed why it is blamed and why government has not wrong?....he has no ground of intellectual leadership and resolution in handling with all issues especially corruption issue.

    So ignorant!

As they've said, "great men think
alike." And yes, we know about
millions who is suffering from lack
of jobs. We'll never forgot them
for any moment, which is why we
    must eliminate the Oppositions
who abused their tax dollars and
    resources for their own benefits.
The resourses saved could be better
    channel to fight corruptions and
    created jobs for people instead
    of nonesense.

And yes, a few of us are a beer
fans but not the entire nation.

There are huge jobs created by opposition party existence especially quota of garment factories aided by USA and EU....so I don't see any reliable excuse from your words to eliminate opposition in order to create job.

You are just another ignorant individual who cannot see the real thing to help Cambodians, but just try to injail them in poverty and your dictatorship regime...

    LOL.

    Anyway, I don't drink much beer. I
say on the average, 10 bottle a
year. I prefered our lightly sweet
and fermented palm nut vine. There
are plenty around my area. We don't
have much beer here because it is
a hassle to keep it cold. Many
    people don't the frig.

This guy lost touch with reality. He made decisions based on his mood not reasons.

There is no vision under his leadership. Cambodia is drifting like log. Cambodian children are paying the price. Does he care?
