Montagnards: Vietnamese Military Purchases Spy Equipment Used for Persecution

2006-08-24

Below is a report by the Montagnard Foundation, an organisation which purpose is to preserve the lives and the culture of the indigenous, Montagnards (Degar) people of Vietnams Central Highlands:

In May 2006 the Vietnam Army bought mobile telephone monitoring equipment worth half a million US dollars. The spy systems are called P-GSM systems and produced by the English company Silver Bullet. The sale was brokered by two Israeli companies Elta Electronics Industries (a subsidiary of Israel Aircraft Industries) and Aikap. It is noted that in 2002 the Vietnamese Ministry of Police bought a similar mobile phone surveillance system manufactured by a US-based company called Verint Systems.

These monitoring systems are being used by the Vietnamese military and police to spy on conversations of Vietnamese citizens who speak to each other inside Vietnam and outside of the country. The Vietnamese military then arrests, tortures and sometimes even kills those arrested for merely speaking to people outside of the country. Christians, Buddhists and other dissidents who speak out about human rights abuses find themselves arrested, tortured and imprisoned. Currently over 350 Degar Christians are in Vietnamese prisons for being involved in the Christian House Church movement, for speaking out against human rights abuses or fleeing to Cambodia - and it is well known that Vietnam persecutes anyone who criticises the government or who the government disapproves of and the authorities severely restricts human rights monitors from having access to the Central Highlands. The US State Department also continues to have Vietnam listed on the Country of Particular Concern (CPC) Watch list, (nations that are the most egregious violators of religious freedom) and that house Church Christians have been tortured for their faith.

The Montagnard Foundation hereby appeals to Christians worldwide, Human Rights advocates and Governments around the world who value freedom to ensure their countries and these abovementioned companies do not sell products in Vietnam used to repress human rights, that may even result in the deaths of innocent people. The Vietnamese government is one of the most repressive in Asia and has for decades officially persecuted Montagnard Degar Christians.

Vietnam government took the wrong appraoch with it racism following Hitler. Vietnam should allow these native people to have freedom like every citizen of the country. Oppression will be defeated in the future because people will begin to rise.

During the Cold war, Joself Stalin, Truman and churchill the 3 divided the world, and Stallin adopted Communism, then the victorious of Mao Zedong came. Ho Chi Minh was fast, and if he didn't join the Communism, China again would have taken Vietnam. Stalin back then was too powerful, he and Mao helped Ho Chi Minh to kick the French then kick the US. Without The former Soviet Union and China, there were no way in million years Vietnam could have won the war. However, without the Soviet Unions and China behind, Vietnam would have been a prosperous nation? umm..
But what happened if the US foreign policy like they abandoned Afghanistan, then the fate of Vietnam would be fallen in the hand of Mao Zedong.

As everyone knows that China has always had her eyes on Vietnam.

Politics as usual, and every Nation has its own tricks, that's how politics about.

Vietnamese won the war because the Viet girls used their booby trap, booty trap, and sucking trap.

Yes, go on slave, keep licking your boss's kdaw! Ah lob!

    Talking about national interest!

    No, not from Viet girls.
Vietnam won the war because of the help from China and Soviet Unions. Read the new History Book of John Lewis Gaddis.
Stalin wanted to beat the US so he did help and spend a lot of money $$$ helping Ho Chi Minh.
Million of Viets were killed by Ho.
And why the Viet population is growing too fast? Many're migrated from South China.

10:43, China and Soviet only sold
them arms. There were no Russian
or Chinese troops in Vietnam did
any shooting and you don't get
much credit for selling arms. It
is the Viet Minh's and Viet Cong's
strategies that win the war. Thus,
the credit should go to Vietnam.
    And Embarassement should go to
the French and the US, period,
    no excuses.

Com' on Viet Cong 1:28 PM. Read the history Book. Stalin gave arms and money and China was with Yuan.
Mao Zedong and Stalin helped Yuan.
Read the book. Without Mao Zedong and Stalin, the answer was NO.

Noop, without gun and amo, the
    Vietnames would not have won.
Chairman Mao did not went to
vietnam and shot the French nor
the US. Vietnam could have got
gun and ammo from elsewhere as
    well. There are always people
    who look for bussiness.
