On 30 May 2007, the Chinese province of Kwangsi signed an agreement with Cambodia on a plan for 4 investments amounting to $450 million. The 4 investments include:
- Development of new housing in Sihanoukville
- Construction of a new oil terminal in Sihanoukville
- Development of a potato plantation and a potato processing plant
- Construction of 16-kilometer of BOT (Build/ Operate/ Transfer) highway linking Phnom Penh city and the Phnom Penh international airport.

We have to be careful also, Chineses, they invest differently than others. They bring their products, generally not so high quality. But, worse, they bring their laborers and their knowledge without any trasfer of knowledge, know how to Cambodia.

Most, of the time that specialists have observed in Africa, the factories invested by China is just like a chinese village in the middle Africa, local peoples profit almost nothing from the so-called INVESTMENT and COOPERATION.
Just to share to improve dialogue and knowledge of our Cambodian peoples who are the old among nations on earth. We used to being a civilized group of people. Let our actions of solidarity be the top of all so that our nation will last for thousands of thousand of years.

It does worry me and some Khmers. It has recently brought to the attention of people over the world that majority of Chinese investment companies are under the control of Chinese Government, who manipulates their investment for their political purposes. Keep watching them carefully is a better idea.

world market competition to lower
the price of goods for Chinese
people and everyone. This is much
more effective than the corrupted
UN sending cracked pots like Ah
Ghai to bark at poor governments.
I think Chinese investments in Cambodia profit both Cambodia and China. We must not have prejudice toward foreigners. Accept what is beneficial to our people.

some people misplan their
bussiness and have to go back home
with empty pocket. I feel so sad
