The wife of the Cambodian Senate president has passed away on the morning of Friday, 3rd July 2009, reports Deum Ampil.
Madame Nhem Soeun (pictured), wife of Mr. Chea Sim (pictured), president of the Senate and president of the ruling Cambodian People's Party, died at her home in Phnom Penh.
According to Deum Ampil, Madame Nhem Soeun passed away peacefully at 3 o'clock on the early morning of Friday at the old age of 71.
According to Khmer Sthapana newspaper, Prime Minister Hun Sen has on 4th July ordered all government and public buildings to fly the national flag at half-mast as a sign of respect. Madame Nhem Soeun's body will be cremated on Monday 6th July at Wat Botum Vadey pagoda in Phnom Penh.
