Hun Many, Prime Minister Hun Xen's second son, has reportedly received a scholarship to study at the American Defence University (Westpoint Military Academy?).
A senior defence official said on Sunday that Hun Many has received a one year scholarship to study a military course at the American Defence University.
Hun Many has left Cambodia for the United States in July and is scheduled to finish his course in July 2010.
The United States government has offered a scholarship to Hun Manet, Mr. Hun Sen's eldest son, to study at the prestigious Westpoint Military Academy more than 10 years ago. Hun Many is the second of Prime Minister Hun Sen and Madame Bun Rany to receive a scholarship from the U.S government to study at a military university in the United States.

We have all the money--to say the least, we don't have problem with money. We only need recognition from the West. We can pay millions of doallars to the institution, if we have to, but scholarship is a good recognition on our part.

I don't see why there is contempt for Hun Sen's sons who are able to achieve higher than you except jealousy lol. All the opportunity given to Khmer in America, none was able to go to West Point yet but someone from Cambodia already did and now his brother is the second. Doesn't that say something about the truth nature of Khmer overseas who see themselves so highly? lol Many Khmeroverseas never achieve big things but think and talk like they built 7 Angkor Wat. Sihanouk has always a big adventage compared to Hun Xen or the other in Cambodia because Cambodian people with low education stood behind him. Without high edcation, the Sihanouk clan will be down near by the futures and on the other hand, he was/ is King but his Idiology is communism, no chnage for him.

America gives scholarships to competant people, not who they know. Ever heard of Jessica Meach? She beat out 100+ other candidates WORLD WIDE to become the second Cambodian and first female from Cambodia to get into West Point. Every heard of Hun Manith? If he wasn't competant, he would not be able to survive USMA (west point).

The truth of the matter is that had Mr. Hun Sen's sons--Many and Manet--were not the the sons of the Cambodian Prime Minister, they won't be accepted to this school.
Also, the fact of the matter is that only a few of the best and brightest American kids have accepted to this school.

My nephew "a Khmer born," might not able to be an officer of the Swiss army, when we did not have good background, educated and also relationship to some people in the country.
I am sure Khmer Americans have the right and are able to apply for the West Point Academy. But first you need to fulfill some conditions.

I can assure you that I was a Khmer Rouged cadre, I jointed the soldier on May 1974 in the jungle I was 16 year old of age and also, my uncle jointed Khmer Rouge soldier since 1970 when we captured Angkor Wat temple and the vicinity were closed. During the Vietnam invaded 1979 I immediately ran to Thailand I had a Thai wife and letter on devoice her because she refused to live in Cambodia with me. She loved me because the way I looked and attracted to her. I was a young good-looking Black Khmer man that time. I learned English all years around. I was a young Cambodian smart led who had been helped and saved people lives even thought I was a Khmer Rouge cadre. I hate Chackrupot Americ because they bombed and did not help my country. Khmer Rouges NOT all were uneducated as to what you and other people state here in this forum. Currently, I live in Cambodia, I work at night shift sometime day shift thus I am able to communicate with you guy here (KI Media news) and enjoy providing any comments, suggestions and respect to the people. We all Khmers (Khmer Rouge), stop accusing too much on Khmer Rouge, it’s not going to any good. I wish the country could turn back to day one again, because I hate people.

Here are admissions requirement:
Age: Between 17 and 23
4 years in English including grammar, liturature, etc..
4 years in Mathematics: Plane geometry, Algebra, Intermediate algebra, and trigonometry.
2 years of foreign languages
2 years of science: physic and chemistry
1 year of American history
Get a very good GPA in high school
Be nominated by US vice president, local congress, or US senators.
Submit SAT or ACT.
Pass physical and medical examinations.
So don't be foul. You think Ah Hun Kwak's sons meet those requirement. So don't be BS (Boss Shit) or MS (More Shit)with me.
American just accept them because they're prime minister's children of foreign country, not because they're qualify.
If people in the US got accept into WP, I admire them.

Many Cambodian American children came to U.S in the 70 and 79 and afterward, they were born and raise here are educated, open minded... their parent are not their boss as some old Cambodian fashioned way, you as the parent can not always say for them what to do...let they learn what to do whith the system in modern society, they are in the mainstream of America, a competition world, Cambodian American are equal with every races, intelligent, brightnees...

Most Cambodian people I heard left the country to United States of America in 1975 -76, they stayed in Thailand before immigrant to America. Some Cambodian people who have resided in the US, they claim that they cam to United States before 1975. They HATE to identify and admit that they left the country to US on 17 April 1975. April 17, 1975, lot of Cambodian and children left the country to Thailand and abroad, not mid 1970s or earliest 1960s as you stated. Of course, Cambodian American who lives in the U.S. have more opportunity better then Cambodian people in Cambodia, they acquired Doctors, PHD, Professor etc. and then cause trouble to the Cambodian government. Cambodian American has an arrogant attitude to the Cambodian people in Cambodia. I hate this living society. I wish I should kill them all.

TORTURE AND MURDER ON PRAK SITHA WHILE IN CUSTODY BY MISNISTRY OF INTERIOR OFFICIAL
Cambodian People's Party Hun Sen Khmer Rouge Regime had committed torture and murder.
"On the night of January 16, 2003, a street youth named Prak Sitha was beaten to death at the Ministry of Interior (MOI) headquarters after he was arrested and detained by off-duty MOI officers on suspicion of theft. His body - bearing numerous injuries to the head, torso, arms, and legs - was dumped at a Phnom Penh pagoda the following morning by ministry officers, in violation of police regulations regarding deaths in custody. No criminal charges were filed in connection with this death. In December 2004, the case was cited by the UN secretary-general's special representative for human rights in Cambodia - who stated that Prak Sitha died at the ministry "following beatings by a known police officer" - as an example of a "consistent and continuing pattern of impunity" in Cambodia."

"On September 4, 2008, Mean Sokchea, a RCAF major working in Brigade 70, shot dead 21-year-old waitress Put Samphors at a restaurant in Kandal province. Mean Sokchea, in a drunken stupor, fired his gun and apparently mistakenly hit Put Samphors in the stomach. She was taken to a hospital but later died of her wounds. Mean Sokchea was detained by the police overnight but was then released, allegedly after intervention by Hing Bun Heang. Put Samphor's family received US$2,700 from Mean Sokchea, and the police told them that their daughter was shot while authorities were chasing robbers."

ReplyDeleteManith, Ex West Point Cadet, the son of Hun Premier of Cambodia however have been observed closely for his activities by some activists who want to see change in Cambodia to more gradually democratic phenomenon, thus he's not actively involted it yet in poilitics, the same they've been assessed, current President Kim young Il, the son of late Kim Il sung of North Korea. They are not far different like father like son, dictathorship style even though they knew that Kim love western movies, and songs as well... a frail young Kim grapped tie, power grip from father to son.
Ex. Predident Ramos of Phillipine was also a West Point graduate, of course he had been proved to many observers that he was a good respectful leaders, there was no black lists for Ramos as a corrupted bad learders like President Makos regime.
