ReplyDeleteWow, female members seem more eloquent than their male counterparts. We can see how a woman can be eloquent let alone arrogant. When we are in a small group, we feel that we are somehow special.

ReplyDeleteJudicial independence and integrity is regarded as one of the pillars of stable democracy. It also lies at the core of a truly peaceful and progressive civic order. One of the major factors contributing to the social upheaval in the seventies and before was the absence of this important institution. Judges were some of the most wealthy and powerful figures of their time then and now, and even a handful among them who exercised their duties in accordance with their social conscience frequently found it frustrating when dealing with cases involving influential established personalities or individuals with such privileged connection.
ReplyDeleteJudicial reform in itself is welcome, but this will not offer the public anything more than illusory step in this direction. Citizens or subjects living under authoritarian rule often lose their civic pride and their spirit as creative, self-reliant and fulfilled individuals. Instead, the choices they make is something of secondary importance as these choices are more often than not subject to external circumstances and to the will of others. That is why institutional reform and stability is of paramount importance to the well-being of civil society and to national sovereignty for present and future generations to come.
At a glance, conflict can be discerned taking place at two levels in Cambodian society and this is characterised by on-going disputes of various nature among individuals (which are often violently settled or concluded to personal or family financial devastation as either party loses trust in law and order agencies to mitigate on their behalf fairly or equitably), and by the tension between state and individuals themselves.
One of the most misleading clichés of our time is the notion that behaviour of the state is a mirror of its subjects and this myth has undoubtedly served to legitimise many a dictatorship the world over. While political conflict and civil disorder tend to impair both the moral character of the individual and that of the state alike, it is the latter rather than isolated individuals that has the means to remedy this affliction by way of instituting and implementing due reform across the social spectrum within the civic sphere.
The archaic, monolithic structure that supports the CPP as a movement and system was installed by Hanoi with the aim of extending its administrative will and control over its satellite state in replacement of another archaic, monolithic system of essentially the same mould in the form of DK administration albeit with some variance in adjustment.
At this stage the hope is that all Cambodians, specifically, those within the CPP come to recognise that meaningful reform must start with the CPP itself which has been a tried and trusted tool principally for implementing the will and interest of those who instituted it rather than those of the Cambodian nation. If nothing else, think of the future of your own offspring and the environment you would want them to be in, if indeed they are Cambodian.

ReplyDeleteAre there ways for Cambodians to send a message to the Cambodians within CPP to understand or fully recognize that Cambodia needs to be reformed?
Every day and every blog I visited the posters bombard only a fight; and they enjoy cursing the Cambodians in CPP.
I don't see any hope for Cambodia besides watching her being torn apart by the extremists.
When the tide are shift in cambodia again, the vietcong and khmer rouge in government gonna get fried!

ReplyDeleteMu Sochua is right, all Khmer diplomats must come together as one and work together as a team because we don't want other nations to take advantage of us fighting with each other as well as we don't want to give them the chance to steal our land and our people when we are vulnerable. Ms. Ly Srey Vyna reminded me a lot after i listed to what she said. All she talked are abt the importance problems in Cambodia that we all should know all those weird things under Hun Zen rules. I was bone and raised in Cambodia so i can know that all she said above are all true that Koun Khmer should know and fight for these. I wish our country can has a new government for the next election. I don't care who will be the next leader..but must be not Hun Zen!! I'm sick of that Lmoub Umnarch Hun Zen!!!
