Kampot SRP MP Mu Sochua had decided to drop her lawsuit against Hun Xen after the Appeal court decided to toss her defamation and curse lawsuit against Hun Xen.
In an interview, Mrs. Mu Sochua said that she will not appeal her lawsuit case against Hun Xen to the Supreme court. The Appeal court decision to toss her case shows the court inequity. Mrs Mu Sochua added that if she pursues her case to the Supreme court, the decision will still remain the same.
Mrs. Mu Sochua made this decision shortly after Uk Savuth, the prosecutor of the Appeal court maintained the decision handed down by the Phnom Penh municipal court, i.e. her lawsuit against Hun Xen was dropped by the court.
In June 2009, the prosecutor of the Phnom Penh municipal court considered Mrs. Mu Sochua’s accusation as being unacceptable. Therefore, the court decided to drop her lawsuit case against Hun Xen.
Mrs. Mu Sochua’s lawsuit led to a countersuit by Hun Xen who accused her of defamation. The reason Hun Xen accused her of defamation was because Mrs. Mu Sochua claimed that Hun Xen defamed and cursed her in his speech in Kampot on 04 April 2009. Hun Xen strongly criticized a “Cheung Khlang” (thug) woman who is very good at protesting land issues in Kampot province.
At the end, on 04 August 2009, the Phnom Penh municipal court decided that she lost her case against Hun Xen and it ordered her to pay a 16.5 million riels ($4,100) fine.

I agree with you, Mrs. Mu. In a country where laws are mede to serve the sole purpose of a group of powerful government official, there will be know justice for others. But the pursuit for freedon, social justice, and democracy for defenseless Khmer must go on by ther means.

ReplyDeleteI agree with you that "People are smarter than you think." but they are smart in doing evil things to hurt and harm the innocent Khmers, such as:
1-Giving parts of our land and isles to Yuons in excahange for power.
2-Allowing Yuons to flow into Cambodia freely.
3-Giving illegal Yuons more rights and privilidges than Khmer citizens have, so they can vote for Hun Sen. And nowadays Yuons are acting as they are the onwers of Cambodia; they insult Khmer people everyday.
4-Evicting poor Khmer people from their huts, so Yuons can have those pieces of land, or the crooked government officials can seel them to some tycoons.
5-Stealing 2/3 of the nation's revenue or international aid given to Cambodia.
6-committing all kinds of crimes against the innocent Khmer people.
7-Wasting at least $2,000,000 per month of the national budget to pay for Hun Sen's bodyguards. This a big waste!
If some points I briefly mention above fit in your opinion, then you are not smart, but are very destructive to the Khmer nation.
The case of Mrs. does not have anything to do with Khmer people, because they are not the ones who make a decision on that case. Don't try to relate Khmer people to the government's injustice or criminal acts.
Mu Sochua is a big looser. Why fuck around in a kangaroo court system with Ah Khwak Hun Xen. She should use her time to prepare her political party strategies to win the next election in 2013.

8:44PM, I agree with your comment my friend, and believe me I am VERY upset with the current government. But we got to control our anger and be realistic with our approach. We are dreaming if we think that getting rid of the current government will resolve our problems. Look at Khieu Samphan. My parents told me that he was one of the most honest politicians during Sihanouk regime, and look what happened when his clan came to power. He and his clan mercilessly butchered 1.7 million innocent people.
ReplyDeleteIf our nation is to survive and prosper, the people have to get smarter and be able to work with each others despite their differences. Unfortunately, we ‘re not there yet. SRP and HRP could not event compromise and work with each others, and most of us in this forum keep turning on each others like mad dogs. People need to get rid of the old mindset and become more tolerant, more collaborative in order to resolve our common problems. Once we reach that state, no government will be able to mistreat us, the people.
She characterizes her loss as inequity, but the reason she lost is because her allegation of defamation pursuant to Article 63 of the United Nations Transitional Commission (UNTAC) Criminal Law, written by U.N. lawyers, had no merit. That's the reality- no matter how hard she screams she was treated unfairly in the courts.

We all have to make decision and don't fighting each other because of the power, khmer people very smart but unfortunately they lost their hope, and they have been through from KR regime that why they get scare. I see and met a lot of our people at the US,Canada and in Europe most of them really good for the comment, but none of them have their own confedent to stand up and reunited as a khmer group.
