Opposition leader seeks international support on immunity

Opposition leader Sam Rainsy is seeking international support a day after his parliamentary immunity was revoked in a dispute over border with Vietnam.

Cambodia’s National Assembly on Monday lift Sam Rainsy’s immunity to pave the way for court investigation into his involvement in uprooting six wooden demarcation posts in the eastern province of Svay Rieng last month.

“I will tell them [European Parliament] that the recent stripping of my immunity and those of other parliamentarians is a violation of the [Cambodia’s] constitution, democratic principles, and freedom of expression,” Sam Rainsy told VOA Khmer by phone from Brussels where he is scheduled to attend a parliament hearing.

Government spokesman Khieu Kanharith said everything is done based on the rule of law.

Sam Rainsy is truly a Khmer hero who willing to risk his own life for his own people and to protect his own country. On the other hand, Hun Sen and his CPP are truly Vietnam pupet who punish his own people to please his boss (Viet leader). Hun Sen is not working for Khmer and not to protect Khmer land. Under Hun Sen, Khmer land will vanish piece by piece and before you know it, it is gone for good.

But Sam Rainsy won't let that happen. Thats why, is did for all Khmer. We all SHOULD JOIN SAM RAINSY to do just that.

My God bless Sam Rainsy, our hero!

Why Sam Rainsy took the laws into his own hands? It looks so stupid for an educated leader like him to do shit like that on the border issues with Vietnam.

Sam Rainsy is not a border committee authority. why he done over head his position? Maybe he try to win election in 2013? or just to make khmer look at him as Hero?

The real Hero only the one who liberated khmer on January 7th 1979, but, not form France, Canada, Swiss, Norway or USA.

If there are khmer fathers who sell their daughter to be a prostitute, there are also leaders who sell khmer land, who sell khmer life, who sell khmer territories to foreigners. This can happen because by complacency khmers allow it to happen. So stop wailing and crying. Now wake up and cry out to God for help and overthrow khmer current leaders, and ask God to raise up a godly ones.
