About 60 residents who were threatened with eviction have protested against the real estate development in the lake area, located north of the capital.

On Monday 22 March, Boeung Kak residents gathered in front of the city hall to renew their protest against the real estate development project by the Shukaku, Inc. company. The project would affect the demonstrators’ land. Altogether, about 60 people from Srah Chork commune, Daun Penh district, came together. “We come to demand from the authority the land title for our plots and our houses,” Chey Lay, one the demonstrators, explained. The demand takes place after the residents learnt about a preliminary development plan for the area which encroaches on their houses. “Through these land titles, we can claim our rights and prevent our houses from being destroyed,” Chey Lay added.

The families involved also wish that PM Hun Xen take charge of their case. In fact, they no longer seem to trust the city hall anymore because city hall officials were involved in the preliminary development plan for the lake area in January 2010.

On Wednesday 10 March, the residents sent a similar request to Hun Xen’s office. However, it was directly forwarded to the city hall which promised an answer within one week.

Why are protesters always holding Hun Sen and Bun Rany poster? Do they really believing in them to help. I am sure they know well that them two are the perpetraitor.

I bet Hun Sen won't do anyting and it is legal for them to rob people land. However, they would jail people if people spit and pist on Hun Sen and his wife picture.

Sit down and think deeply why they are holding the strongman's picture and the picture of his wife.

They are not stupid! That is how the game is played in Cambodia. You have a better chance of protecting your property if you play on the same side of the strongman.

Unity is a rare commodity in Cambodia and among Cambodians! If you are the group that lose your land, nobody else in Cambodia will help you. You are simply on your own. Those who don't lose anything yet won't do much or anything at all to help you and that's why every dictator in Cambodia can survive and only gets toppled by another dictator and not by a really massive people power.

Holding the King's picture, UN flag, US flag, or whatever else will be more useless!

This is how the justice system work in cambodia. People use the pictures of the big crook, sadam hun sen, to scare the small crook, the uleased dogs, cambodian polices.

The expropriations of the lands of the Khmer population must be authorized only in cases where the national interest requires it (constructions of roads, hospitals, schools….) and these expropriations must be compensated fairly .

For other cases of expropriations and specially expropriations for the benefit of the foreign companies if the people refuse compensation and will not leave, they have the right to remain on their land .
The Khmers are at their home in Cambodia.

It is necessary to stop the unfair expropriations for the benefit of the rich foreigners and to end the police repression against the inhabitants who refuse to sell their land if not the popular uprising against the authorities and against foreigners responsible for misfortunes of these
    inhabitants.

Rich foreigners should not believe everything can with their wealth and their dollars.

    Cambodia is not for sale.

No the economy of the predation!
    No the neo-colonialism!

Foreigners, go to buy lands and women in your countries or in Thailande, Vietnam, Laos or China.

    They hold Hun Sen picture
because they want to tell Hun Sen that if Hun Sen is really the strong man, prove it by helping them.
They don't like Hun Sen, they hate Hun Sen, in the future, when Hun Sen lost his election, they will kill Hun Sen.
Before 1970, Khmers did it with Sihanouk, after 1970, what Khmers did with Sihanouk ?

Once upon the time far far away of one Kingdom, there were poor farmers fought for their lands. But the royal padrones could not find the solution, so they were invited to meet with the king and then the king presided over the dispute and found the solution, which was happily accepted by the farmers. (Pew!!! P.U)

Nowaday, there is well known throughtout Cambodia Kingdom that there is Strongman who can give a judgment call to all his people. His words are their commands and he is living in the glass ceiling wall. People are always looking for him and without him people will have to take Prozac and Seroquel. "samasamputho!!!!"

These poor people just played hard ball. Deep down, they knew exactly who behind the company. The reason, they held Hun Sen and his wife's picture, cause, they begged their mercy and their sympathy. Hoping Mr. Hun Sen and his wife will step in and resolve this issue.
These people are not stupid! Uneducated yes, but not idiots! They're way tooo smart. Please don't blame these poor innocent people. They are trying anything to save their homes and land.

This strategy that people are using right now doesn't seem to be right on the eyes of the westerners. But they have no choice. This is it! This is the last draw! Please don't make fun of them. After all, we are all Cambodians! WE need to support each other! Buddha bless these people!

    Agree with 4:09AM!
While most of you think that the poor villager holding Hun Sen's picture is an act of stupidity or ignorance; you all need to read between the line.
This is just an act! The villager is using a reverse psychology to their benefit, by displaying a pictures of the only people who can help saved their house from being demolished. At the same time, the village people knew that the root of all cause is probably connected to Hun Sen. A displayed of pictures is really a last resort and hope that Hun Sen or Bunrany will change their mind.
Hint: the black and white picture is probably a quick fix from a xerox copying machine. You all didn't actually think that the villager is worshiping Hun Sen..... do you?

Cambodian people hate someone telling them "they are stupid" because they are simply stupid like you. Man, you are Cambodian, you have to change your idiot idea if you want to survive in this planet. You have to improve yourself, make financial independence. If you can do that you are escaped from stupid.

I am one of Cambodian. I was also stupid like other Cambodian, you. But now I learn from the past and the fact in Cambodia. I changed for development and I want other Cambodian to change way or there thinking. What can Hun Xen help you if you are keeping stupid. You have the rights to live, but Cambodian do not exercise their rights. They keep begging Hun Sen. Why don't you use other ways to get your rights. You are encouraging Cambodian to live in begging.....?

You know what? because you keep studpid, that why Thai and Vietname look down on Cambodia and they took your land. You blame only the leaders of the country, but have you ever asked yourself "what you have done for the country?"

10:50am... judging from your writing I think you haven't changed a bit. YOU'RE STILL STUPID!!!!

Why the hell are u generalizing the entire Khmer population? Classifying them as 'STUPID?" I mean u can say that your mother and father is stupid cuz your grandparents are all stupid.. In fact, your entire generation are a bunch of dumb-ass. But u can't say all Khmer are stupid cuz they all don't have your blood.

    10:50,
I just can't fathem on how it is logical for you to mock the whole Cambodian as being stupid. How can you exercise your rights if your gov't doesn't allow you to? How about you show more concern about your people and less concern about your neighboring country? You talk about graduating from 'stupid' school, but to me.....you lack a lot of common sense.
BTW, does your mother and father know that you call them stupid? Or..... are you white wash because you've been out of the country far too long?

So you mean to tell me that this guy (10:50) doesn't have any sense of value or dignity? No wonder some of his writing doesn't make sense.
