General Chea Dara, the deputy RCAF commander-in-chief, said that Cambodia is to preserve the 10 Thai soldiers who are currently stationed inside Cambodia’s Wat Keo Sekha Kiri Svarak Pagoda if these soldiers do not want to leave Cambodia and they will serve as proof to the International community that Thailand did truly invade Cambodia. Chea Dara made this declaration on 30 March 2010 at the National Institute of Education in Phnom Penh while addressing more than 1,000 education officials and students. Chea Dara boasted that Cambodia can deal with these 10 soldiers any time it wants to, however, Cambodia wants to preserve them as proof to show that Thailand invaded Cambodia (sic!). The general boasted that these 10 soldiers were made hostages on 15 October 2008 when they came to occupy this area along with Thai black-clad soldiers. “We told them to stay on the spot, and to drop all their weapons and we consider them as invading Thai hostages,” Chea Dara claimed.

Cambodia needs to stop playing game with the Thai. Cambodia's strategy should be to establish a "no man zone" while this dispute is still yet to be resolved. A line should be drawn where the Thais must not cross. Anything beyond that line, bullets will start flying, and without warning. Stop playing with these thugs. Why is Cambodia feel compelled to prove to the world the Thais is the instigator? There are enough evidence out there already to prove they are the perpetrator of this conflict.
I just can't seem to grasp the Cambodian commanders line of thinking when it comes to handling this conflict.

Technically, as my experiences during my study in Universities and topofrapgic works of mapping(using GIS/RS/Cartography..etc..)1 mm is very litle however in papers/maps ... and in the terrain and real sites it is difficult to measure ... and by using the most updated GPS machines we still lose some mm therefore no 1 MM lost is a lie BUT "we lost Square Kilometers...."

Take a look at these soldiers. They speak the same language but different accent. Why? Those black are pure Khmer Surin and those camouflage are pure Khmer soldiers. They played chess, card, and even eat together as brothers. Take one another life as an enemy when order is taken seriously.

ReplyDeleteYou're right these Thai soldiers are ethnic Khmers speak with nothern Khmer accent. The same soldiers who in 1979 pushed many Cambodian refugees down the Dang Reak Mountian cliff. These Khmer Surin soldiers robbed those refugees before forcing them down the mountain where the land was littered with mines. Some refugees moving too slow they shot on that mountain. At 10 yrs. old, I was a witness to these atrocities on that mountain.
Don't be too naive my friend by throwing a blanket of friendship to anyone who is Khmer.
Yes they are Khmer, or Khmer Surin, but they are finghting for Thai interest. They are roaming a disputed border areas, they should be treated no different from an enemy. Cambodian soldiers should not eat with these Khmer Surin soldiers or have any other assiciations with them while this standoff is still on going. We still regard them as Khmer brother nontheless, but right now we are dealing with a conflict and they are on the enemy side, and should be treated as thus!

ReplyDeleteHaven't you figured it out already that the Thai is uing these Khmer Surins soldiers to come to conflict areas. Perhaps in their mind, at the very worst Khmer is killing Khmers. At the very least it make the job for Cambodian solidiers and commander that much more difficult since they are dealing with fellow Khmer.
