3:40PM, It used to be Khmer National Party but it has problem. Therefoe the party was named after him is to avoid a party coupe d'etat again.
However, name should not be important as long the party working for the betterment of Cambodians and Cambodia nation.
But to avoid a party coupe d'etat again SRP name should not change as Kem Sokha's condition. This clearly Kem Sokha and his HRP is trying to destroyed SRP.
Kem Sokha is working under Hun Sen nose. He already owned by CPP before released from Hun Sen jail at Prey Sar. His brother joined CPP right after the 2008 election. In addition, Kem Sokha also have very long corruptions history while he was the president of CCHR.
Kem Sokha and his HRP clans formed with a mission to destract SRP.
Yea right. Maybe Sam Rainsy only cares about his own political career and not true democracy. How self-absorbent is he to think that only he can lead that party? Obviously, he is very much for himself as he accuses others of. What a hypocrite! Self-less leader? More like Selfish leader. Sam Rainsy doesn't want anyone to grab the position of power from him within his own party. That is why he wants to keep the name. So after Sam Rainsy, there is no one to leader the party. Yea, that is real democracy mentality. Sam Rainsy doesn't give a damn about democracy. He only uses it to as a mean for his political career. If he cares about democracy and survival of democracy, he could ensure the party survival after him by not giving the party survival solely upon himself. When he is gone, who is to leader this party then? This Sam Rainsy is only thinking of himself, not his party.
The problem with Cambodia is that we don't have true nationalists.
SR, HS and the rest are only care about themselves, but not the country. Yes, they pretend to love the country, but if and only if they are the boss.
Look at SR, even at this stage where his party is weak and lack of real strength to face the CPP, he could not open up his party or make compromises. I am wonder what kind of leader would SR be when he has the power!

The point of the merge is to allow the people to see that different democratic forces have join hand to create a challenge to the government. So, leaving the SRP name will not help people realize that change and if they saw SRP as not an option, they will still not vote for SRP whereas they would if they thought their other likeable party is also apart of the new merge with new name.
