On Wednesday 28 April 2010, our colleague Heng Soy posted an English translation of an article posted on the frontpage of the Koh Santepheap website regarding an allege $1 million auction for a Cambodian woman by the name of Miss Nuon Neang Lom-orng. While the bottom of the article stated that: Film article "Ath-bot Khser Pheap-yon", it is not clear whether the article was real or not as a contact phone number and email address were also provided. Heng Soy did clearly note that "this article could be a HOAX by Koh Santepheap to advertise a Thai movie". In anticipation of possible controversies surrounding this article, Heng Soy also made a copy of the article posted by Koh Santepheap on Wednesday as shown below:

Finally, it makes it clear that the article is an excerpt from a movie script. While we apologize for this situation which is beyond our control, we leave it up to you to judge whether Koh Santepheap omit the note about "the excerpt from a movie script" intentionally to generate a publicity stunt and/or to increase its readership on purpose or not.
Thank you!

i think only "អត្ថបទខ្សែភាពយន្ត" is enought..
ReplyDeleteThe reader should have an habit to read everything carefully before they react.
It just goes to show the mentality in cambodia. Lie, cheat and steal whenever you have the chance.

ReplyDeleteIf it is an excerpt of movie script, why put it on the front page and make it look like an article?
ReplyDeleteThat shows poor journalistic and publishing ethics.
It's wrong,
ReplyDeletethat should be a LAST CENTURY new.
It was a desperate scheme to increase readership for the Khmer newspaper.
ReplyDeleteWar is peace
Mr.HengSoy, if you think being funny or placing a joke with a single piece of farce in Ki-media will further entertain your readers, think again.
ReplyDelete"Crying wolf" would do you no good -- literally.
Yes all rights, that article was written by poor journalist. If it is just a scenery of movie, so why put phone number and email address?
ReplyDeleteki-media, if you are not 100% sure, don't touch the shit. how idiotic you have been!
ReplyDeleteThe originak stated clearly "អត្ថបទខ្សែភាពយន្ត" What reason you think this is real?
ReplyDeleteCommmon people, read the small print and critically.

People can you just have fun with it? At least the woman has her good intention by taking half of the money donating to the orphan and the poor stupid and tough shit if you don't have any mula.
ReplyDeleteLok Heng Soy, you tried and to be cute with us, now you have to eat crow.
ReplyDeleteI feel the pain and the responsibility of the mother. She deserves the applause. It seems that everyone wants to have a daughter goes off to marry and good man, but nobody says or do anything to get where they really want to be. Instead most men or future fathers seem to be so unsupportive. Shame on them. That says the driver seat in the family should be giving to a woman.
ReplyDelete$2,000,000! Going one, going twice... mine.
ReplyDeletePlease don't give too much craps on this issue. It is just an "artistic fantasy", a copycat from an American movie "Indecent Proposal". We shouldn't be fooled by such ploy.
ReplyDeleteReading the above comments makes me wonder why some people are so critical of others. It reminds me of my recent experience. A few days ago, I wrote a letter praising Mr. Raymond Kin for his work and dedication to provide free online KhmerTV for our Khmer compatriots around the globe. In that letter, I inadvertently confused Raymond’s educational background with his brother’s, an embarrassing mistake obviously, and I got disproportionate treatment from some of the readers.
ReplyDeleteI have great sympathy for KI media and Mr. Heng Soy, and hope all these undeserved negative comments will not discourage them from continuing to keep us all informed.
Thank you very much KI Media.
C'mon people, there's nothing wrong in having a good laugh every now and then. Don't make a big deal out of it.
ReplyDeletei don't think it's a big deal, however, i don't it's true anymore to hang on to a mystical way like the virgin mary or srey krup leak or whatever. in the dark age, maybe, but in this competitive, modern, moving world, it is silly go that direction all by yourself when the majority of the world moves the other way, really. wake up, people!
ReplyDeletei thought KI media was in the business of providing relevant news for people interested in cambodia.
ReplyDeletedidn't realize you guys were capable of making shameless plugs for movies. that's pretty low for a new's outlet that advertises itself for being "intelligent."
As long my people are happy i am happy...before you say or do anything please think first.
ReplyDeleteMay God bless the Kingdom of Cambodia.
Thank you!
concept like this are so outdated and does apply in this day and age as time changes. i think it is good for movie lines, for tv drama, etc, but for real life, it is unfeasable to copy this way, really!
ReplyDeletePhew! Good thing it was only a publicity stunt. Shame on you, Koh Santepheap! That was very unprofessional to pull that stunt to the public. From now on, people will loose respect and they will turn away from your web site.
