ReplyDeleteFirst of all, I appreciate your translation, which you've done an important job of helping disseminate Khmer-related information across and beyond Cambodia. However, I would suggest that you verify the information first before you want to have it done and posted on your website.
With that said, I've noticed and found, after I've read the original khmer version of the article from Koh Santepheap, that there was a bracketed Khmer text at the end of the original article that reads, "Excerpt/quote from a film".
In this regard, I think the accuracy, legitimacy and rationality of the story is a question to me. Whether the original newspaper publishing the story originally written in Khmer has a hidden agenda to promote its readership or other busniness-related interests, or something else, is also something that is yet to be known.
By no means could I ever imagine a Cambodian woman of such self-proclaimed caliber and quality would ever do such a thing.
Although I don't seem to think that the intent of such publication would be wholesomely categorized as anathema, it would be hollistically viewed as something indicative of a morally-degrated, highly-corrupted society. Such an annoucement, in fact an advertisement in itself intended to promote and gain self-interest in a way or through a means that is not human or honorable, only exsits in fintional world since that is not what all the good, caring, honest and responsbile real human beings of the world do. It's just sad. A sad fiction. Or maybe a sad reality.
