No peeking on the villa built with corruption money

A woman uses a treadmill on Thursday at AusFit, a fitness centre atop the Skyline Apartments in Chamkarmon district that overlooks Prime Minister Hun Sen’s Phnom Penh residence (centre). The gym is scheduled to close at the end of the month because, the owner says, government officials have expressed concern that it poses a national security risk. (Photo by: Rick Valenzuela)

AusFit reportedly to be evicted over ‘national security’ concerns

THE owner of a gym on the ninth floor of the Skyline Apartments, which overlook Prime Minister Hun Sen’s Phnom Penh villa, said Thursday that local police have ordered him to relocate due to “national security” concerns.

Richard Chin said local police informed him “a couple months ago” that he would need to vacate by the end of May, despite the fact that he is less than one year into his five-year lease. Last week, he posted a letter notifying clients of the AusFit gym that “Cambodian National Security” told him he would be held “accountable for any incidents related to government personnel safety due to the apartment’s rooftop access”.

“I have been left with no option but to agree with the termination of the lease with Skyline Apartments and to relocate,” the letter states.

Asked about the notice Thursday, Chin said: “The reason the national security want to kick us out is because they believe AusFit is a breeding ground for terrorists.”

“I’m not sure of the real reason they want us out, but they definitely want us out quickly,” he added.

Lean Jardin, the manager of Skyline Apartments, confirmed that AusFit would be relocated at the end of the month, but said she could not comment on why the lease had been cut short.

City officials on Thursday could not confirm that Chin had been ordered to move.

Om Yentieng, deputy chairman of the National Counter-terrorism Committee, said he could provide “no information related to terrorists in skyscrapers that cause concern about the security at Prime Minister Hun Sen’s house”.

Khath Narith, the chief of Tonle Bassac commune, where the apartment building is located, said he was not aware of local police ordering AusFit to move, but he did note that local authorities had advised the owners of all tall buildings in the area to closely monitor customers and residents.

“We have advised the owners of skyscrapers and hotels that they have to be careful before renting their apartments, and to examine customers’ attitudes, and if they note something strange happening, they have to report it to the local authorities,” he said.

“It is an advance campaign to prevent an accident that would occur from terrorist activity. We didn’t ask people to move from their apartments,” he added.

Chin said AusFit would reopen at the De Castle Diamond condominium complex in Tuol Kork district in June.

Why terrorists would attack Hun Sen ? For what ? Hun Sen is loved by Khmers, by Yuons by everybody, he's afraid of what ? If you're honest you must not be afraid like that!

HUN SEN must have done a very bad thing to the Country, or he shouldn’t afraid of his own people.

A sniper on the rooftop will not miss Hun Sen at that distance.
A record of 2.7km is held by a british sharpshooter in Afghanistan. Hun Sen is scared to die.

Even president Barak Obama, is loved by people around the world, he still have security detail. You can't have all the people love you 100% of the time. Even if 99% love you, the 1% can still want to kill you. So as a leader of any country, taking all precaution is a wise idea.

Why would you built a house on that location for Hun Sen in the first place? only a moron architecture would pick such a location. The only terrorist are people working for the government that included the PM.

I think this is simple business competition.
The Place gym nearby is owned by Khmer this one is not. So you call your friend and thing is sorted out.

If it is security risk... evict all people from that building or even more... destroy it.
Well then some friend would lose some money... so ... that is no-no

Of course, you are right, he is the leader of the country being grown and educated in pagoda, but why just his family will affect others? Where is the decent housing of people? The Skyline built first or his house built first? He has many residents, so he should care of his people.

Cambodia is out of rule even engagement, wedding or birthday of their official, road must be blocked and polices or PM were deploy everywhere.

You're all wrong about his house next to the skyline building.

Ah Hun Sen is afraid that someone who hate his gut will use RPG to shoot from the skyline and kill this fucking PM. We should get rid of this Youn puppet.

No wonder Ah Kwak doesn't want to step down as PM because he owns a lot of money and big houses around the country. If he steps down as PM, he will be homeless for sure.

Shoot him in the eyes and head.

I hate this fucking man but I want to fuck his daughters. Every time I see him on TV, I want to vomit on him and his wife, Bunrany or Me Kachrouk Hai Nam.

There will be plenty of high-rises hotel and condos throughout Phnom Penh that are within striking distance, but The PM already has his 10-kilometer radius security parameter for his protection. In other words, each apartment or condos will have his secrete police occupy throughout the Cambodian capital.

I am just comming back from Cambodia, one of minister's wife (she is living near the house of my parents), she told me that her hasband receive from 3000 USD to 4000 USD for ONE conference (4-5 conference/ monthly). She has tree villas and 4 new cars (Hummer, Mercedes, Toyota,..[each of them costs Min. 80000- 120000 USD in the West Countries]). When I go out from the city Phnom Penh, I see most of Khmer people are very poor, the social split is very high. I asked my parents why those get alot of money and from whom? My parents told me, of course the Money from the foreign aids for helping the poor khmer poeple in this country and corruption.

I don't understand why Hun Sen want to be afraid of anything and why be a leader in the first place!

If Hun Sen is so afraid of dying and he should go live underground or build a house without windows and doors or build a house on top of the mountain so nobody can see him!

Don't hate Hun Sen of what he can do where most stupid Cambodian leaders can't do! Hun Sen used to say that he used his life an investment to become of what he is now and now he is pretty much successful… don’t you think? Do you even know the meaning of what Hun Sen is trying to say here? It means that if you do something and you do it like you life depend on it then you will become successful! If it means that you have to corrupt, to kill, or to become a dictator and you will have to do it because you life depends on it!
