The French Appeal Court had upheld a lower court verdict that found opposition leader Sam Rainsy guilty of defaming Foreign Minister Hor Namhong in May, but did not publicly release the verdict, reports Deum Ampil.

However, on Tuesday 15th June, Foreign Minister Hor Namhong held a press conference to announce the French Appeal Court verdict. He announced publicly that the verdict was in his favour and that the court asked Mr. Sam Rainsy to pay a nominal compensation amount of 1 euro to him. He said the compensation amount is symbolic, but it is a testimony to his innocence that he was not involved in the Khmer Rouge crimes as alleged by Mr. Rainsy and that it will help restore his good reputation.

Mr. Yim Sovan, spokesman for the Sam Rainsy Party, declined to comment when reached by telephone.

Mr. Hor Namhong was chief of Boeng Trabek Re-Education Centre in Phnom Penh during the Khmer Rouge regime where many diplomats from former regimes have been housed and then sent to their deaths at Tuol Sleng Torture Centre. However, Mr. Hor Hamhong, who has claimed to have lost 30 members of his family during the Khmer Rouge regime, denied any involvements in the Khmer Rouge crimes.

Hor Nam Hong's honor worth of only 5000 Riel, yes, very cheap. But,what KI forgot is that when they posted a phrase like that, it show that Sam Rainsy is even cheaper than than because he is a criminal.

Mr. Hor Namhong won the defamation case against convicted criminal Xam Rainxy is not about the money but it's about his reputation which is defamed by a road runner Xam Rainxy. However, aim to save its boss's ugly face, KI and other stupid SRP supporters have tried to use 1 Euro = 5000 Riel as its pretext.

5000 riels is better than nothing. Even he won the case we, Cambodian know that Hor5Hong, Chea Sim, Heng Samrin, Hun Sen, Keat Chhun are former khmer rough, killers and best slave of Vietname and serve the best interest of VN. Sam Rainsy is not afraid to confront with Hun Sen court and jail as long as Hun Sen did it by himself, but instead Hun Sen did it by serving VN. Who wanna play with Hun Sen this way.

I always see the KI as well as Opossition party blame the government of doing bad. By this case Hor 5 Hong, I believe that all Sam Raingsy say is all about the lie word. He always blame others that is why he lost in the court.

    From the neutral person.

If the court is in Cambodia there will be a blame like Mu Sok Hua case. Will Mr. Sam Raingsy issue a letter to OBAMA for help? If he did I will be the fist who sign on the petition.

Please stop being a sore loser. Let's stop proving something that is already been proven. Let's respect the ruling and move on. It is a lesson for SR; his creditability is very important for his politics.

Hor Nam Hong was not chief or Warden of the Beung TraBek prison. He was a prisoner that the KR chose to lead other prisoners, but he still a prisoner regardless. It is like in a POW camp where they choose one POW to lead his fellow POW to keep order. That doesn't mean he is a collaborator or chief of the prison.

That is the reason why Hor Nam Hong won this case again and again because SR is brainless to know the difference between lead prisoner and prison chief or prison warden.

    Dear all readers,

If you don't know about the process in France, don't try to say like Hor 5 Hong. I think, this is our fault, I means "all khmers". Do you know why ? Because the khmer in France or around the world do not dare to be Sam Rainsy's witness. I know some people in France who was in Boeung Trabek Prison but they are afraid that they can not go to visite or go back to Cambodia. Hope that all of dear readers understand about that. All those khmer are afraid about that but they do not think or care about their future generation (children and grand-children) if Cambodia will be erase from the world map and when all this youngs peoples insult us (their parents).

Hi 4:29! That is what Mr. Sam Rainsy need to consider before fight with Hor 5 Hong or other CPP high ranked people. He should analyse the situation first before he decided to do. It is Mr. Sam Rainsy's weakness. Not only this case, most of the case he doesn't analyse what happen in the future but he started to do. It is really affect to his creditability. Even me I feel that all Sam Rainsy say is about a lie words. How about the others thinks???

I think that Hun Sen must be judged and jailed because he has commited crime against protestors in 1997. As long as Cambodian justice doesn't do it, Cambodia remains a Republic of Banana for ever and your children will live under criminal dictator Hun Sen for ever..

people, stop fighting for power in cambodia because this is not the dark ages or stone ages anymore, ok. in this day and age in cambodia, we have election law, law on how to choose the leaders, etc, so, do make effort to learn and understand our law before being stupid like fighting and argument with personal name calling, etc... rule of law should help prevent all this kind of issues, really! we still have not heard of term limit law yet, so stop whining or bitching about how mr. hun sen and others are in power for a long time, etc... the only sound solution to that that of argument is to introduce term limit law like they have in america. otherwise, don't bother to complain about it, ok! got to make it happen if we are to reform our country election system, etc... otherwise, i think everyone is all the same hypocrites, really! so, don't be so hypocritical about others. start with oneself first, ok! listen and be patience is key to successful in life as well as in politics, you know! learn from all wise men in the world, ok! that's all!
