In response to questions asked by RFI’s Kuoch Kunthara, Prof. Ros Chantraboth, an academician who advises the Cambodian academy and a professor of political science, explained and commented about the 60-year-old diplomatic relations between Cambodia and the US – a relationship that is both sweet and bitter. Ros Chantraboth believes that the US should not place Cambodia under its absolute influence and it should not lay the political path for Cambodia to follow either.

Even between 1970-75 Cambodian leaders still exercised their full independent decision making related to all Khmer issues. But since 1979 until today,cambodia has been absolutely under Hanoi's influence in all aspects of the society such as government, politics, economy, border issue, immigration...
