Lon Nol's promise, the root cause of 3 million Khmer killed by the Khmer Rouge?

1- Time Magazine, No. 28, September 1970. “Lon Nol said, “We are not going to allow the communists to operate freely all over our country. We will kill all of them.”

Finally, the Khmer Rouge, thanks to the Lon Nol Putsch dated March 18, 1970, will become the masters of Cambodia (April 17, 1975 to April 6, 1979) and will kill 3 million Compatriots (Sihanoukist, Lonnolian “Khmer Republican,” Khmer Rouge who displeased Pol Pot, and, alas! innocent Compatriots from the small [ordinary] people, men and women villagers, Buddhist monks, Islam Khmer, Christians,…). That is what Lon Nol, “Preah Bat Theammik” – “the future Buddha” according to his astrologers in 1969, promised in September 1970: “We (Lonnolians) will kill all of them”!!

2- UPI, Phnom Penh, September 4, 1970: “President Nixon has pledged in secret talks with him (Sirik Matak) the United States will not abandon Cambodia…” No comment.

    Anyway, it is more important to
    learn about the CAUSE of the fire
    than the fire itself.

    When your house in burned down to
    the ground, usually, we will
    everything that we can do to trace
    the CAUSE of the fire. We normally
    don't pay much attention to fire
    itself, except for when we need
    information that will lead to the
    CAUSE of the fire. Everyone knows
    that all fires are hot and
    destructive. Hence, it is important
    that we know how to prevent it
    from starting, and we can't
    prevented any fire unless we
    understand the cause of fire.

    I remember when being 8 yrs/in 1970, we listened Radio of Peking in Khmer I also heard Great King Sihanouk anounced to persuade innocent rural Khmer Patriots/compatriots to Maqui and follow him/King... fight against US Imperialism....
    and now what happened Sir...

    As I remember our Great King said..: No one is clever than him ... of the world can cheat me so far...
    if so why king did not avoid cambodia from 3yrs 3months & 20days event.
    We kindly request our Great King be a lttle bit quite.. pls Preah Ang .."do not make water too opaque..."
    I still remember in 1970 Great King announced via Radio Peking .."... Fight against US Imperialist.. agianst Lon Nol Sarimatak Chen Heng ....to liberate Kambodja...
    And Now how isit what happened in 1970-79 you are the best of the world who could make /or participate to turn your own country Kambodja to 17 April 75, 7 Jan 79 and 23 Oct Events BUT pls remember Your 23 Oct.90 Events will not forever COMPENSATE the loss of 17 Apr & 7 Makara events which result in that we all almost died, nothing remained as saying Kampuchea Yr Zero or Yr Under Zero..
