The Ministry of Interior (MoI) had decided not to authorize the Norodom Ranariddh Party (NRP) to hold a demonstration today to protest against the lawsuit brought up against the NRP’s president. The NRP planned to hold a demonstration by its supporters at the Olympic Stadium, but the authorities believe that it would affect the security and public order. Ok Socheat, the prince’s advisor, said that the MoI recommended that the NRP collect signatures for a petition and to hold its demonstration inside the party’s compound to display its viewpoint. “We will send a new request, and this time, it’s not to hold a demonstration at a fixed location, but to hold it in the street. As long as the constitution is not suspended, people have the right to demonstrate,” Ok Socheat said. Currently in France, Prince Ranariddh formed the NRP following his eviction from Funcinpec presidency. A court summon has been issued against him stemming from a lawsuit brought up by his former Funcinpec party, he is accused of breach of trust. He is also accused of taking personal advantage from the sale of the Funcinpec party headquarters, a transaction which is now voided. The NRP claimed that the justice system is at the service of a scheme aimed at pushing its president out of his political career.

MoI, where is freedom of speech? Khieu Kanarith always claims that we have more press freedom than our neighboring countries, BS.

The great words of Samdech Choun Nath:

All Khmers, please remember the root and history of our great country
Our boundary was wide and well known
Others always thought highly of our race
And always placed our race as the elders.

We have great heritage and culture
Which has spread far and wide in the Far East.
Religion, arts and education,
Music, philosophy and strategies are all that we have spread.

All Khmers, please remember our roots and history
Which speaks of the grandeur of our great race
Make up your mind and body and try hard to rebuild
In order to lift the value of our nation
To once again rise to the greatness that we once had.
