Khieu Kanharith Defends Stance on Press

Information Minister Defends Stance on Press

Heng Reaksmey, VOA Khmer
Original report from Phnom Penh
03/05/2007

Information Minister Khieu Kanharith said Thursday press freedom in Cambodia was the best in Southeast Asia and reminded journalists they were under an obligation to follow professional ethics.

Speaking to VOA Khmer on World Press Freedom Day and responding to a call Wednesday from a leading rights group for the government to close his ministry, Khieu Kanharith said Cambodia had an extremely liberal press environment.

"Not only can reporters write a story, but they can invent stories as well. That's unique to Cambodia," he said.

"Cambodia is worried about certain reporters that might be using their press freedoms in the wrong direction, and what all the press have to be concerned with is concentrating on the ethics of their profession," Khieu Kanharith said. "They can say anything they want after that."

True, but we need to cut back some
of the presses. Most of them
doesn't do anything but create bad
    image of Cambodia without any
    reason whatsoever. This will
    deterred bussinesses and jobs from
our jobless who have waited for
    decades. We must act
    democratically in the interest of
    the people.

Journalism in Cambodia is gradually progressing towards professionalism with the help from foreign as well as local NGOs. There is no doubt about that.

Unfortunately, Information Minister Khieu Kanharith has been trained by no-one to be an ethical or a professional high-ranking government official. He is actually progressing backward. His name should be put in the Guinness Book of Records as having more mistresses than any living man on this planet earth. Sometimes, he makes love with (or rapes) 2 or 3 sisters in one room. Some other times, he makes love with (or rapes) a mother and then goes on with the daughter under the same roof. On one occasion, he's confessed to his acquaintances that Cambodian trains are unable to transport all the women he's had sex with. He is not just a sex maniac, but a sex animal.

We like to know under which code of ethics has he been behaving thus far?

Nevertheless, Khieu Kanharith may not realize that the 3 Cambodia's most hated men are Om Yin Tieng, Khieu Sopheak and Khieu Kanharith himself. Why do people hate them so much? Because they don't have brains, nor do they have hearts.

ACTUALLY THEY ARE ZOMBIES CAST TO THIS WORLD BY SATAN OR HELL, JUST TO SPIT ON PEOPLE'S INTELLIGENCE!!!

I am strongly welcome to the press freedom. But I am also strongly against any control to the freedom of the Press. In a civilised society, all political leaders dare not to fight with the press and medias. The role of the Ministry of information is not to controling the Press and the Media, but is to creating more information accessible to the Nation. Eg, Creating more information technic to be avaible to their citizen and to fight with price control from greedies companies to hold on their service providers. Areak Prey

Kheu Kanharith is a notorious playboy who uses to mistreat poor girls working in Karaoke parlours and restaurants. He has had an affair with one widow in Kean Svay, had one child with her and then managed to have sexual relation with with her girl. People in Kien Svay are very well aware of this big scandal.

the last drop of the stupid
    corruption or what have you.

    Hey idiot (2:16), every country
has those problems you listed, but
all of them work on it slowly, bit
at a time. The US for example has
been at it for over 200 years and
they are still not as good as New
    Zealand, Hong Kong, ... or
    Australia. Get it?

why not Cambodia? or Cambodia is
    communist country? No, Cambodia is
    not Communist country but Communist

    Khieu Kanharith should start his
own party and I will supported
    him, just joking around, Kanharith!
    Unfortunately, we'll be better off
    maintained Unity to move Cambodia
    forward and fight against traitors
who try to wipe out our culture
    like Pol Pot did.
