Thailand's envoy Chalotorn Paowiboon Tuesday was allowed to visit a Thai man arrested in Cambodia, Thai foreign minister's secretary Chawanon Intarakomalsut told Thai television Channel 9.

Siwarak Chothipong, a 31-year-old Thai man, worked as an engineer in Cambodia Air Traffic Services Co Ltd (CATS), was arrested on Nov. 11 on alleged charge of spying, according to the arrest warrant of prosecutor of Phnom Penh Municipality Court.

He spied through copying the letters of flights of former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra in Cambodia and Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen from CATS, which has duties to control all flights in the country, and he sent those reports to Thailand, theKhmer language newspaper Rasmei Kampuchea reported.

Siwarak, who has been detained in a prison in Phnom Penh, is safe and in good condition, the foreign minister's secretary said.

As the problem concerning Siwarak is easing, however, the Thai envoy in Phnom Penh will need to work more to know an official allegation made by Cambodia against Siwarak, Chawanon said.

During the visit by the Thai envoy, Siwarak was also allowed to call his mother, who has been in Thailand.

This is the first meeting between Siwarak and the Thai envoy after he was arrested last week.
