GOVERNMENT ADMITS MISTAKE ON BORDER POST LOCATION
In a statement broadcast yesterday on Radio Free Asia, government representative and Border Committee chief Var Kim Hong admitted that the maps used by opposition leader Sam Rainsy in his presentation to expose border encroachment by Vietnam are the “correct maps.” [Sam Rainsy’s full presentation is available at http://tinyurl.com/yeaoxyf].
However, Var Kim Hong claimed that the geographic coordinates stated by Sam Rainsy for the temporary border post #185 which Sam Rainsy pulled out last October, were “incorrect.”
But most surprisingly, Var Kim Hong refused to reveal the “correct” coordinates according to the government.
Since any given spot on Earth has specific, precise and unique geographic coordinates, and since the SRP is 100 percent certain of the geographic coordinates of border post #185 -- which anybody can obtain by going on the spot with a GPS device -- we can very logically infer that the government now recognizes that the so-called border post #185 uprooted by Sam Rainsy was planted at a wrong location and therefore was not a “correct” and legal border post.
Therefore, the accusation against Sam Rainsy and two farmers now in jail, is groundless and the charges against them must be dropped.

Sam Ransy must demand one more condition for exchange of his return to go to jail in Cambodia. If the court can prove that the border posts were in correct border line, Sam Ransy would have to go to jail.
ReplyDeleteEveryone in the world know that the border posts that Sam Ransy uprooted were inside Cambdodia. Farmers are strong evidence. The posts were rooted in their farms.
Therefore, the court must drop the case of Sam Ransy and give him his immunity back.
If the court and Hun Sen do not give justice to Sam Ransy, the whole will know and the two angels on CPP logo will punish Hun Sen and his groups to suffer and eventually they will have no land to grave them.
All Khmer people must remember from now on that Hun Sen government is not working to serve Khmer interests. Hun Sen is working to serve Viet interest. Therefore, when he is out power, we must send him to live on the land that he is trying to give to Viet.
If SR work on the detail, show this map of wrong location border post, bring it up to the national assembly, he would be in a very good position to fight for the sake of Cambodia, but alah, he acted on compulsion, and pull out that dang stick himself, so regardless he is right or wrong about the border post location, he is breaking the law, he did what he is not suppose to do, thus he put himself in a bad position, and less affective in fighting this border encroachment issue.

ReplyDeleteFirst, Even Viet pulled the wrong border posts back to their country. They are so afraid that Sam Ransy suing to the international court. Why do you think Viet pull the border posts back?
Second, Sam Ransy provided us good example to all Khmer to stand up against Viet. Sam ransy's action show Viet that not all Khmer listened to Hanoi and not all Khmer afraid Hanoi like Hun Sen. Khmer still have national pride and still sense of Khmer.
Third, Sam Ransy has great impact to courage to Khmer people along the border to stand up against Viet. As you may know people in Romeas hek and Chantrea districts demand the border committee to pull the border posts from their land. This is becuase of Sam ransy.
Fourth, Sam Ransy proved that Hun Sen and his government is wrong and not work for the interest of Khmer. If Hun Sen works for the interst of Khmer, he must thank Sam Ransy for uprooting illegal border posts. But Hun Sen aggressively and wrongfully punish Sam Ransy and the farmers for protecting Cambodian land and their farm. This proves that Hun Sen is working for Viet not Khmer. As you may know what Hun Sen is doing to Sam Ransy is that he pleases Hanoi. Remember? It was Viet prime minister's order to punish Sam Ransy.
Now Viet and Hun Sen are so afraid to do anything. They have to think twice before they post new border posts or the people along the border will stand up against Viet and Hun Sen. Are these not big affect of what Sam ransy did?
You mentioned why not Sam Ransy raised the issue to the national assembly? Do you think that they will listen to him? The national assembly is not the place to debate like other developed country. Our national assembly is the place to get order from the prime minister rather than giving order to prime minister.
Therefore, what Sam Ransy did was right. It was the right time to save our country from Viet's encroachment. If he had not done that, it means that we accept the border line legally. But now Viet and Hun Sen must think twice before they post border again.
Therefore, I would like to ask you to wake up and support what is right for the interest of country.

According to court documents and in-court testimonies of 9 witnesses (including 4 policemen who were 2-3 meters away from Meas Srey), they did NOT see Meas Srey, Prum Chea or Sam Rainsy uprooted the stakes. Allowing Yuons to chop parts of Khmer Land is not a mistake, because it's not one person that decides whether or not some border posts should be legally planted at any marked spot.

Obviously mr. va kimg hong admitted to the "mistakes," but was it really a mistake? Khmer territory isn't simply some mathematical equations that you can lose points when you make mistakes. It is a serious issue; mr. var kim hong needs to be put on trial for his border markers mistakes.

ReplyDeleteIt was unfortunate that the Svay Rieng Court was too quick to deliver the verdict which did not appear to meet any judicial investigation and decision making standard.
Although there is no doubt that the loyalty to VN exists along side with the pressures received from that country, the government is in the best position to take this to VN and request that correction be made if any errors were found. Any protest from Rainsi will be looked at as political manoeuver and responded in a negative manner.
I was impressed to have read how Hun sen publicly warned his military generals about corruptions, and I hope that he will continue to do this across the board regardless of any general or officer's political and factional leaning

it is everybody's responsibility to make sure the international demarcation is legal, just, correct and not at the expense or loss of cambodia! usually, the villagers who live along the borders are the one who know more about the border limit, etc., in addition to the baseline map agreed by mutually by both sides, and so on. lands are expensive and cambodia cannot afford to lose anymore to neighboring countries like during the dark ages. that was history already!

ReplyDeleteI request that the Phnom Penh government send Cambodian troops to confront the Vietnamese troops on the eastern borders with Vietnam as well (not just against Thai soldiers!). And Var Kim Hong must be fired at once! Var Kim Hong is incompetent to handle border issues, Var Kim Hong must be replaced now!
Border treaties must be conducted in good faith and mutual understandings for long-lasting peace among nations, but if the Hanoi government continues to move in their border posts whenever the demarcation process taken place, then we Khmer must nullify all together. Any agreements between Dictator Hun Xen and the Vietcongs regime cannot and will not be respected by Khmer and by the international law.
Var Kim Hong did compare to the case of China-Vietnam demarcation, as he said "you lose some and you win some!" in the process. If that is the case, can Var Kim Hong prove that Cambodia does gain and Vietnam loses during this demarcation process as well. Show us your map that Cambodia gains in this process as well? Which village or town that Cambodia gain? So far we have seen a lot of losses from Cambodia side, please show us where Cambodia gains???

All CPP officials – Sok An, Keat Chhun, Sar Keng, Hor Nam Hong, Chom Prasit, Heng Samrin, Chea Sim, … and other will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. These people will not be able to argue that they just follow Hun Sen’s orders. If they don’t want to be judged guilty, they’re better have written evidence in the official archives to show that they reported, opposed or protested youn encroachments to Hun Sen.

The Cambodian government has just admitted the mistake on border post location. But the Vietnamese government did recognized the mistake a month before by removing nearby similar (illegal) border stakes and taking them back to Vietnam. This is the first Cambodian victory over Vietnam in modern times. Not a military victory but a political and moral victory that should wake up the Khmer people.
