Cambodia's opposition leader faced a new lawsuit Friday filed by the government for spreading false information and public document, a government lawyer said.
Ky Tech, a government lawyer said he had submitted a government lawsuit on Friday to a Phnom Penh Court against Sam Rainsy for his spreading false information and public document through website relating to border issues.
Sam Rainsy, was convicted by a provincial court late last month to two years in prison for his involvement in border markers removals and that the court found him guilty of destroying public property.
Sam Rainsy who is now in France was not available for comment, but his party's spokesman, Kim Sourphirith said the latest lawsuit was not a "surprise".
It is not yet known when the court will take action against Sam Rainsy.
Ky Tech said according to the laws, Sam Rainsy might face up to three years in jail for false information charge and 15 years for spreading fake public document relating to border issues.

He is better off fighting from abroad instead of in Cambodia where is completely controlled by the Xen regime. Sam Rainsy is not afraid of facing justice in any place, but he would not be given a fair justice in the corrupt court system of Cambodia.
Ask your psy master Hun to tell his friend Thaksin to fight like a man and brave enough to serve time in Thailand's jail rather coward staying in Bubai where majority of people are muslim and Thaksin is Buddhist.

ReplyDeleteIt's naive to expect justice from the Kangaroo court of Hun Sen. Cambodia is run by one man's rule. Hun Sen controls all branches: Executive, Legislative, and Judiciary. Hun Sen makes it looks as Cambodia is a democratic country but in reality it is dictatorship country and run by the thugs and thieves. It's asahmed that some people are blind and don't realize the facts.

Let's just look at the current issues. In this regimes, who dare to confront Hun Xen regarding the East border situation? What other opposition party beside SRP dare to stand off with CPP government?

I went to visit Cambodia last year and ran into Var Kim Hong twice at a restaurant for morning breakfast. This guy goes out to public as a normal guy unlike Hun Sen. This guy can be assassinated easily. I wish Cambodia has a real hero or a real nationalist to take down this Viet Var Kim Hong guy. I wish I could be a real hero at that time, but I didn't have a short gun. hehehehe
ReplyDeleteA lot of Khmer overseas didn’t care going back to Cambodia to rebuilding the country after Paris Peace Accord was signed. But Sam Raingsy did care going back, leaving behind his good life as prosperous investment firm director. Remember the event still unpunished of 1997 Grenade Attack on Opposition Party. Sam Raingsy was at the forefront of the demo. He owed his life saved to his bodyguard that day. But his courage was confirmed by several other events of that nature again and again after. No he is not the one who cares only for his own skin. Sometime you need to go away to be able to come back again. I am sure that he will come back one more time. Sure for a better Cambodia, free from domination of the next door neighbour hegemonic country, imperialist Vietnam. He will be back for a socially better Cambodia and prosperous country, respected by all partners.
