Family members of Hang Chakra, the Editor-in-chief of the Khmer Machas Srok newspaper, renewed their call for the release of Hang Chakra who is currently jailed in Prey Sar prison, and to allow him to go home before the upcoming Cambodian New Year. Radio Free Asia reported that Hang Pisey, Hang Chakra’s daughter, said, while accepting gift from overseas donors sent through the Club of Cambodian Journalists on Saturday 27 February 2010, that she is asking the king and the government to release her father prior to Cambodian New Year celebration so that he can reunite with his family because “we suffer hardship and we want him to come and live near us. In summary, even if we don’t have anything, just let my father be at home.” Mrs. Sim Suokea, Hang Chakra’s 54-year-old wife, told RFA that if the government releases her husband, she would be so happy. Hang Chakra, the Editor-in-chief of the Khmer Machas Srok newspaper, was sentenced to one-year of jail term by the Phom Penh municipal court on 26 June 2009 for disinformation and defamation.

In Aust, we respect all interlactual people and no one is charged without having found guilty. media or jernalist can write about almost everything but not without evidences to prove it otherwise. So, gov't then would take the issue very seriously, in other words instead of charging the writer, they would follow up the story and find out whether it is true or not. If it is true, the gov't then have bring those to justice. If the gov't dinail the truth, the whole nation will fall apart as well as being judge by the whole world that the gov't itself is part of the corruption and off cause we will have a bad reputation. Therefore, please respect to our intellegents or we will fall apart. Aust
