What is the point! You can go around and have these meeting or seminars all you want, and you are not going to change a thing. Mr. Peng Se and Sam Rainsy cannot go back to Cambodia or have any authority to solve Cambodian border issue. 3. What do you need to get it done?

You don't ask people to tell their family how to vote in Cambodia. SRP representative need to convince Cambodian yourself and be specific.
Example:
Land issue: What is the problem with current law ? What are you going to do when you get elected ?
Border issue: How are you going to solve Viet Nam border problem ?
If you don't tell people how you are going to solve it, what do you expect people to do ? just trust you ? Educated people also want to know if it is possible.
Do you remember Lon Nol regime??, He thougth that all he has to do just go to Cambodian border and tell Vietcong to leave Cambodian land, but instead of leaving, the Vietcong moved their troop closer to Phnom Pen.

when it comes to money, some of us are very careful of giving it out. You pay for the entry fee and when you go in you are ask to give more donations.

No one is forcing you to do so. But you have to think now how much is enough to help rescue our beloved Kampuchea?
Let see you pay $30 to help cover for the meeting place. And let say that this is an annual event. So $30/365 days per year, that comes down to just about $0.08 cent a day.

To me I think and there are YOUN and CPP spies living among our Khmer community throughout the world. They can be your next door neighbors, your family close friends, and friends. Test them out yourself. If you know that what you are doing is the right way and they keep on pulling the opposite way, maybe they are not who they claim they are.
Just confront them and don't be afraid of them. Don't be afraid that Hen Xen regime won't let you visit Cambodia. Be afraid that you don't have Cambodia to visit in the future.
If Hun Xen want to build coffin for you let see how many coffin he can built. If Hun Xen want to put you in prison, let see how many prisons he can built.
You know, will all of our temples across the states, how come we can't ask the temples to heard one of these special meetings.
It would be free of charge. Just some donation for the temples and that would help out the community a lot.
So that way more people will come and be informed about the current situation in Cambodia. Instead of hearing what other people say, they can hear for themselves.

I am one of those who are looking for a party to support. I want a new Gov. to run Cambodia. But at the same time I don't want to support a person, I want to support a cause and the ideas how to improve the situation in Cambodia. it is ok for one person to be afraid, but it's not ok for a group of people or a nation to be afraid like this, ok! changes, depends on the benefits, aren't always bad ones; changes can be good ones as well, really! i can think of a million changes that can be good for cambodia, especially if we are to be competitive in the world, you know! one change is our outdated thinking; we have to embrace new ways of doing business; we have to embrace new ideas, workable ideas, good, sound, reasonable ways to get cambodia out of sufferings of all sorts. yes, infuse outside ideas into our own khmer richness of culture, tradition, customs, arts, etc, etc... it is ok to adopt and learn from everybody i.e. enemies or friends and so forth, really! it's callled being smart about it, really! it is stupid not to embrace good changes, you know!
Nothing is wrong with your ideas. Instead they are pretty good.
The problem is how to get from ideas into real actions that are required if we are to see any changes, especially in the thinking of the Cambodians.
I remember clearly several years back in the 60's and early 70's, some people talked about changes as well, but the problems remain with (bad) Charet Khmer (Khmer characters and thoughts on how things are and how to do things, etc.), which may not be easy to do away with or change.
The Khmer Rouge had tried to change it; however, their method of doing it was horrible and thus the killing field came into being in the late 70's.
Injustice, insult and disregard for the poor continue to reign in Cambodia. They are some of the very root causes for the rise of the KR in the 70's.
With foreign neighbours not willing to mind their own businesses and the Cambodians unable as usual to work together for the common good of their country, we are a long way to finding the real solutions that can help solve our country's problems.
changes is good and comes slow with time and education. yes, old habits, especially tie to cultural way the khmer people worship like the elderly is hard to rid of. nothing wrong with that. however, it is possible for changes, good changes that is, to occur in cambodia and for khmer people. polpot's stupid KR way was too extreme, not good. you, be inquisitive and ask many questions is one way to bring in about changes. i think one reason people don't want to let go of old habit is because they are comfortable in their cocoon. i think if we take time to study from other countries out there where there are a lot of successes and education, we can infuse that into our rich khmer culture, tradition, etc... people tend to misinterpret changes; now changes don't come overnight, so having patience is another key. i like to call changes as reforms. i mean it is all boils down to common sense too, you know. i mean, if something is put working or is danger ahead, don't keep going in that direction, really! changes shouldn't be destructive, is should be infused or assimilated into. if you bring changes to quickly like the stupid KR, then you see, destruction followed. just look at cambodia under that backward regime. it didn't get us anywhere except make cambodia weak and open up the door for foreign invasion by youn commy, you see. that is real stupid. i think when we speak about changes to cambodia, we have to keep the world and the fact that cambodia is not alone on this planet, really! i mean, look at japan, the european countries, america, etc... they are great. i think cambodia ought to adopt and learn from them all in order to infuse and better our country. of course, we are proud of our khmer heritage and khmer achievements of the past, however, keep in mind that there are failures as well in the past. so, why not look for changes so we can better serve our people and country, etc... trust me, there are answers out there, we just have to work hard and look for them, that's all. god bless cambodia and all our beautiful khmer people and citizens.

The point is, you need a group of people who has a clear road map how to get there and make every one to buy in to it, then the change will occure.

Do you remember Lon Nol regime??, He thougth that all he has to do just go to Cambodian border and tell Vietcong to leave Cambodian land, but instead of leaving, the Vietcong moved their troop closer to Phnom Pen.
SRP need to be specific and tell every Cambodian the alternative solution to solve the problem so you can gain the trust back. It is a better way.
I have been reading this blog for the last two years, I never saw any alternative solution to the problem. All I saw was whining and complaining about the problems.

ReplyDeleteI totally support your idea and thought. But at the pace that our people in Srok going, it would take another 50 years to education them in voting for the right party that works for them.
I don't mean to underestimate our people. It is time to take a different approach to win election against vote buying, vote fraud, and vote intimidation for the CPP.
If someone from the outside talks to our family members and friends inside Srok on who to vote for, I think SRP will have a better chance in winning election. I mean it has to be a landslide inorder to the power hungry CPP to accept the result.

Regarding the donation is going toward the food and fecility. $25/person is not alot. Todays market its only about 8 gallon worth of gass. Or 3 McDonald lunch meal. If you've been to any of these meetings, you'd know they'll ask for your money to do something for Cambodia but why don't you go ask those people who donated their money the whereabouts their past donation have gone to.

No one is forcing you to do so. But you have to think now how much is enough to help rescue our beloved Kampuchea?
Let see you pay $30 to help cover for the meeting place. And let say that this is an annual event. So $30/365 days per year, that comes down to just about $0.08 cent a day.
Anyway I applaud for those who braved enough to make it to the front doors of these historical events.
But we all need to ask ourselves, how much does it takes to rescue Kampuchea from YOUN regime? What does it takes? and What can I as an individual help out?
What I have heard so far when I asked people to attend one of these meeting:

Now, lets ask about what can YOU do to help Cambodia?
To me I think and there are YOUN and CPP spies living among our Khmer community throughout the world. They can be your next door neighbors, your family close friends, and friends. Test them out yourself. If you know that what you are doing is the right way and they keep on pulling the opposite way, maybe they are not who they claim they are.
Just confront them and don't be afraid of them. Don't be afraid that Hen Xen regime won't let you visit Cambodia. Be afraid that you don't have Cambodia to visit in the future.
If Hun Xen want to build coffin for you let see how many coffin he can built. If Hun Xen want to put you in prison, let see how many prisons he can built.
All in all don't be afraid to do what's right.
You know, will all of our temples across the states, how come we can't ask the temples to heard one of these special meetings.

So that way more people will come and be informed about the current situation in Cambodia. Instead of hearing what other people say, they can hear for themselves.
I attended these kind of meeting before but, i can't recall people asking for more money .Once you paid for your food and that is it.Nobody force you to donate any money unless you want it too.So fuck it off and don't create problem ah khmer choy mray.

Any party that win the next election (not the CCP), will be the one that open mind and is not afraid of the challenge and question from the people.

ReplyDeleteit is ok for one person to be afraid, but it's not ok for a group of people or a nation to be afraid like this, ok! changes, depends on the benefits, aren't always bad ones; changes can be good ones as well, really! i can think of a million changes that can be good for cambodia, especially if we are to be competitive in the world, you know! one change is our outdated thinking; we have to embrace new ways of doing business; we have to embrace new ideas, workable ideas, good, sound, reasonable ways to get cambodia out of sufferings of all sorts. yes, infuse outside ideas into our own khmer richness of culture, tradition, customs, arts, etc, etc... it is ok to adopt and learn from everybody i.e. enemies or friends and so forth, really! it's callled being smart about it, really! it is stupid not to embrace good changes, you know!

The problem is how to get from ideas into real actions that are required if we are to see any changes, especially in the thinking of the Cambodians.
I remember clearly several years back in the 60's and early 70's, some people talked about changes as well, but the problems remain with (bad) Charet Khmer (Khmer characters and thoughts on how things are and how to do things, etc.), which may not be easy to do away with or change.
The Khmer Rouge had tried to change it; however, their method of doing it was horrible and thus the killing field came into being in the late 70's.
Injustice, insult and disregard for the poor continue to reign in Cambodia. They are some of the very root causes for the rise of the KR in the 70's.
With foreign neighbours not willing to mind their own businesses and the Cambodians unable as usual to work together for the common good of their country, we are a long way to finding the real solutions that can help solve our country's problems.
I have no answer and hope someone among us has!

changes is good and comes slow with time and education. yes, old habits, especially tie to cultural way the khmer people worship like the elderly is hard to rid of. nothing wrong with that. however, it is possible for changes, good changes that is, to occur in cambodia and for khmer people. polpot's stupid KR way was too extreme, not good. you, be inquisitive and ask many questions is one way to bring in about changes. i think one reason people don't want to let go of old habit is because they are comfortable in their cocoon. i think if we take time to study from other countries out there where there are a lot of successes and education, we can infuse that into our rich khmer culture, tradition, etc... people tend to misinterpret changes; now changes don't come overnight, so having patience is another key. i like to call changes as reforms. i mean it is all boils down to common sense too, you know. i mean, if something is put working or is danger ahead, don't keep going in that direction, really! changes shouldn't be destructive, is should be infused or assimilated into. if you bring changes to quickly like the stupid KR, then you see, destruction followed. just look at cambodia under that backward regime. it didn't get us anywhere except make cambodia weak and open up the door for foreign invasion by youn commy, you see. that is real stupid. i think when we speak about changes to cambodia, we have to keep the world and the fact that cambodia is not alone on this planet, really! i mean, look at japan, the european countries, america, etc... they are great. i think cambodia ought to adopt and learn from them all in order to infuse and better our country. of course, we are proud of our khmer heritage and khmer achievements of the past, however, keep in mind that there are failures as well in the past. so, why not look for changes so we can better serve our people and country, etc... trust me, there are answers out there, we just have to work hard and look for them, that's all. god bless cambodia and all our beautiful khmer people and citizens.
