The Phnom Penh municipal court issued a summons against opposition leader Sam Rainsy, ordering him to show up in court on 08 September in the lawsuit case in which he was accused of falsifying public documents and distribution of false information.
According to the summons dated 05 August and signed by Sok Roeun, the court prosecutor, that FPM received on Tuesday, it ordered 60-year-old MP Sam Rainsy to show up in court (2nd hearing) on 08 September 2010 at 8AM so that he can answer to the accusations leveled against him for falsifying public documents and distribution of false information. The alleged charges against Sam Rainsy took place in February 2010, and the charges against him were brought up according to Articles 49 and 62 of the UN-era criminal code.
The current summons was issued after opposition leader Sam Rainsy publicly said on 12 August 2010 that the goal to protect maps, and to provide proofs on the Khmer-Viet border that he published on his website are not complicated, nor do they contain any mystery. He said that all Cambodian citizens can learn where the Cambodian borders are simply by placing GPS border post recordings on Cambodian maps prepared by the French SGI (Service Géographique de l’Indochine) organization in 1953 and on the US army maps prepared in the 60s, then they would know where Cambodian territories lie. It should be noted that the exact border locations is an issue that the Hun Xen’s regime keeps as a secret.
Sam Rainsy said that the Cambodian regime should stop painting nationalist Cambodian citizens in a corner, and it should try to reach unity among all Cambodians in order to protect Cambodia’s integrity and sovereignty instead, this is a better way to proceed.
Nevertheless, Sam Rainsy said that he will not show up to court as ordered by the Phnom Penh court which lacks independence and which acts as a puppet for the rulers. He also cited, as an example, the case of the current government leaders who used to oppose the KR regime and fled to seek help from the Yuon, later on, these leaders do not have the courage to show up to the KR Tribunal to be sentenced [for their past involvement with the KR regime].

He needs to stop devaluing our own professional people and get on with the job like what else needs to be done for our nation and country, or otherwise let someone else do the job, someone who can promote love and unity for all of our citizens. By doing so is to show other nation that we too are human and we need to breathe just like every other citizen. We have a very beautiful country with beautiful wheather all year round, the only thing that we have been missing is more infrastures with effective managements.
