PHNOM PENH, Cambodia: A court has sentenced two Taiwanese men to combined prison terms of 58 years for trying to smuggle 2.1 kilograms (4.6 pounds) of heroin out of Cambodia, a court official said Tuesday.

Sao Miech, a judge of Phnom Penh Municipal Court, convicted Yen Choan Hseh, 59, and his partner, 49-year-old Chi Tsung Lieh, during a trial Monday, said Plong Sophal, a court prosecutor.

The prosecutor said the judge sentenced Yen and Chi to 30 and 28 years in prison respectively on drug smuggling charges.

The judge also ordered both men to pay a total fine of 130 million riel (US$32,000; €23,800), Plong Sophal said.

He said police at Phnom Penh International Airport arrested the two men with the drug in their possession last October, when they checked in for a flight to Hong Kong.

He said the men hid the drug in their shoes.

Poeung Thyda, the lawyer for the Taiwanese men, said she plans to discuss a possible appeal with her clients.

In January, the same court convicted a 90-year-old Taiwanese man to 10 years in prison for trying to smuggle heroin out of the country.

Cambodia is not a major drug producer, but has increasingly become a smuggling transit route.

    This definitely call for more
    jobs, jobs, jobs. The condition
will continued to get worse and
    worse without a significant
    increase in job availabilities.

Therefore, I don't care what it
takes to crate jobs, just do it.
If we have cut down more trees
to make land to create jobs, just
do it. If we have to cut more
night shift wages to create more
jobs, just do it. If we have to
cut more taxes, just do it... .
Every job count is very precious.

True, but that will never happened
    unless people are busy working.
    Otherwise, they will sell drugs,
    trafficking prostitute and porn,
    uprising against government and
    neighbors, illegally logging, ...
and the list go on and on. That is
why I urged everyone to put jobs
    on top of their list.

I asked you the same thing, pal. Why do you think a Yuan's puppet Hun Sen should be allowed to wreck the whole country and now Cambodia has no border by that bastard?

Yeah, border of Yuan Hanoi with Thailand. I don't see Cambodia and Laos in the map. Since Thailand is being protected by the Great Britain and US, it will be Thailand and China. No more Cambodia, Laos and Yuan.

If I were Cambodian I will sell Cambodia to the US.
