A powerful 6.1 magnitude earthquake has struck northern Laos.
It's said to have shaken buildings as far away as the Thai capital, Bangkok, 800 kilometres to the south, as well Hanoi in Vietnam and across the border in China.
The US Geological Survey says the quake hit an area about 150 kilometres from the ancient Lao capital of Luang Prabang.
There have been no immediate reports of damage or casualties.
