U.S. welcomes 'open' military exercises between China, ASEAN

2007/5/20
WASHINGTON, AP

The United States said Friday that proposed military exercises between China and Southeast Asian nations could be positive if it is done openly.

Such cooperation between China and the 10-member Association of Southeast Asian Nations, the State Department said in a statement, "could contribute to better regional understanding of China's intentions in its military modernization process, as well as its military capabilities and doctrine.

"This can, of course, be positive, so long as it is done in an open and transparent manner."

The United States often presses China to more fully explain its large yearly jumps in military spending.

China has recorded double-digit spending increases for its 2.5 million-member military nearly every year since the early 1990s.

LOL, it sounds like Uncle Sams
    is nervous about China's secret
gears, and they are trying to use
    us as a spies.

    Sorry Uncle Sams, we don't
want to know about it, and we
don't care about open or close
    millitary exercise.

However, if you really want to
    know about China's secret gears,
it gonna cost you 10 billions USD
    for each ASEAN member.

Oh come on! China can use their military exercise all they want and it will only expose their military weakness capability in the region! This is the golden opportunity for Uncle SAM to observe how China used their logistic and launching their missile system!

I mean if China can't even invade Taiwan only a few miles from mainland China and what is the point for China to project their military power beyond Taiwan? ahaha

It makes a lot of sense if China wants to show who the top dog in the neigborhood is and make claim to the Sprately Islands which are rich in natural resources!

What is an idiot? Oriental people
    doesn't brag. We would preferred
to keep you guys in suspense every
    moment that you have.

As for Taiwan, Chinese will have
    patient with Chinese. However,
    if Taiwan were to claim
    independence today, I am certain
    that missiles and bombers will
be on their way to stop it.
