While there was a commotion about a plane crash incident in Kampot province on Tuesday, another incident took place in Sihanoukville when a train line overturned causing a spill of several thousand liters of fuel. The Koh Santepheap newspaper reported that a tank hauling 48,000 liters of fuel was among the overturned wagons. The reason for the overturn appears to be the decrepit old railroad tracks which could no longer support the weight of the wagons. The report indicated that immediately after the train overturned, several dozens of villagers rushed in to try to scoop the spilled fuel. Some were able to collect two cans of fuels, while others were able to scavenge even more until railroad officials arrived and instilled order. According to officials, at least half of the tank load of fuel was lost. The incident took place near the Popeal Kher area, Trapeang Moul village, Choeung Kauk commune, Prey Nub district, Sihanoukville, on Tuesday. A commune councilor from Choeung Kauk indicated that the Diesel fuel in the wagon belonged to the Sokimex company.
What we needed is a soft loan to replace the worn out railroad track. We going to need better and stronger track to handle the growing economy. I don't think we should play around with old track anymore. It's just a waste of money and risking people's life.
ReplyDeleteYes I will take your advice.

Hun Sen,
it's time to refurbish cambodian railway system. when was the last time it was worked on? 40 years ago or more? wake up, people!
ReplyDeleteNo, not refurbish, that is what we have been doing all along and it's not good enough. What we needed it to rip out the all of the old system and replaced it with new one.
ReplyDeleteThe donation funds were supposed to upgrade or build roads for the society. But, I guessed HunSen clan had planned for Cambodia's future.
ReplyDeleteThe people safety is at the end of the list and lifting people out of poverty is not a concern for CPP.
What donation fund? what we needed is about 1 to 2 millions dollar per km worth of track; thus, we are talking around 1 billions dollar to rip out the old track and then put up a better track in its place, which is more costly than build a new track.
ReplyDeleteAh Hun Sen, I demand that you'll replace these old railway systems at this very moment.
ReplyDeleteYour Master,
