Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen has said that his oldest son Hun Manet will not enter politics, the English-Khmer language newspaper the Cambodian Daily reported Tuesday.
"In the future, I don't allow him to replace me as prime minister. I want him to do some charity work for his parents," Hun was quoted as saying on Monday.
Hun denied a rumor that claimed his son would stand as a lawmaker candidate in Siem Reap province in the general election in July.
"I don't allow my son to be a lawmaker while I am a father in power," he said, adding that supporters have asked him to place his children in positions of power as his successors.
"We can't do that. It is a democracy. The children can't inherit (power)," he said.
Hun Manet is the star among Hun Sen's children. He graduated from the West Point Military Academy in the United States, later returned to Cambodia and conducted some charity work.
Hun Sen himself has been premier in the previous three governments of the kingdom from 1993 until now. His major-ruling Cambodian People's Party is now preparing to score a landslide victory in the upcoming general election and he is the sole party candidate for premiership.

AH PLURE are you afraid that your son will be famous than you?
ReplyDeleteThere are lot of universities in the states and Manet chose West Point!!!!
ReplyDeleteIf I'm not mistaken in the photo my friend Manet is distributing rice and sarong to the people.
Hummmmmmmm.
Hey Manet are you sure you don't have a hidden agenda.
Have you told papa Hun everything????
He so convince in his allegation.
If Manet is qualified and competent - the quality in his education and knowledge cannot and should not be ignored.
ReplyDeleteAh Hun Kvak is afraid of his son may become more famous than he is, because the son guy is an educated from real western schools, and ah hun Kvak graduated from al over the places, hanoi, bangcock, and yeah from brothels.
ReplyDeleteHe wants himsef to be remembered as samach dickcho hun xen. kmas kae nas kon vea mean real Phd and ah ov chea samach dickcho mean Push Hot Dick (PHD).
Hey, Cambodia is not a nepotist country like Western countries.
ReplyDeleteMate 11:00 AM. Don't open your stupid mouth and let SRP sapporters throw rock at us, k?
ReplyDeletePM Hun Sen's daughter owned Khmer TV, and his nephew, and his brother in Kg Cham committed crimes green deal. k?
Cambodia is still kissing nepotistm. get it mate?
West Point does not form engineers or doctors or economist...
ReplyDeleteWake up mac fly.
Bachelor at West point. He worked at the world bank and got his master degree? he got his PhD at Oxford.

ReplyDeletethe hope of the future.
ReplyDelete11:34 a.m.
ReplyDeletePlease check your facts first.
Hun Manet did not work at the World Bank. His PhD is not from Oxford University but from the University of Bristol.
His MEc in land economic from new york uni.
ReplyDeleteSee how he can outdo his daddy in corruption and using violence.
He will bve different from his daddy ? Remember Xhimbawean Moogabee got 7 uni degrees, mate.
Please no more AH HUN SEN dynasty in Cambodia! AH HUN MANET is doing charity work like the King of Cambodia? Ahhahahhahahhahah
ReplyDeleteThis fool had been living off his father corruption and now what? He wants to rule Cambodia?
I find it is very hard to comprehend that AH HUN SEN as a father has the power to stop a son who is a full grown man from entering politic? Is this another mommy or daddy boy? Oh how cute! Come on boy if you really want to jump into politic and no one can stop you and not even your mommy or your daddy! You are old enough to make your own decision in life! Please take a very close look at your daddy Hun Sen If you want to enter politic because his set a very good example for you! Politic can be very brutal if you don't have the gut to kill people to get what you want!
Come on in and a trap door is waiting for you boy!
why not let his son jump into politics? As a father, he wants his son to live in a nice house, but not in a dirty farm house. Maybe this is because he finds a life of cambodian politician unspeakeable brutal one or what?. Probably, ruthless and dirt. That is why he just wants his son to do charity work for him so that he will be reborn as a better one. That may be a wish he needs or what else he wishes for?
ReplyDeleteyou speak a lie your people with low education but do opposite your statement openly. We´re looking you as dictator in modern times in Cambodia.
ReplyDeleteWell, dictator are everywhere. Some are good and some are bad, just like any other type of leader. But PM is better than most leaders on this planet. For instant, he would never lied to Khmer people that Iraq got WMD, and wasted thousand of Khmer's lifes to attack Iraq for his own gain. Only Ah Savage Spam Rainxy will do such a thing.
ReplyDeleteTherefore vote number 4 on the ballot to keep evil (Ah Spam Rainsy) from destroying Cambodia again.
Ah Khmer-yuon is not human but pure bred wild animal.
ReplyDeletedon't worry mate 7;28pm. stay cool. they have freedom to express, so let them do.
ReplyDeletejust do our job for our country.
if PM lets his son do politics they will say "see he wants his son to replace him" now PM ddidn't let his son in politics they say "see he is jealous with his son" or they say "see he wants him to do charity like our King".
Hun Manet will enter politics when PM lose his bid for PM, but how can both of them are in politics? It will look bad for him.
Let them talk.
Why does Ah Manet wants to run against his father? Manet with a Western degrees knew that his father is incapable of running the country. He enjoy all the lavished life that his father gave him, but a lack of powers. It's in the blood. My prediction is: Manet will have his father murder just so he can have his way.
ReplyDeleteLet it be! If there is such thing as the Khmer-Youn than it is better than to be the Vietcong slave like all of you!
ReplyDeleteAs a fucken slave you can never change your fate but only to follow your master at every command!
How can a slave do anything for its country when the slave can't even think for themselves! You Vietcong slaves are born to be a worker, a follower, and a believer and not a doer or a leader and get that concept in your fucken head!
It is so hard to believe that these Vietcong slave claimed to have a fucken job to do! I want to know what job they have. What have they done for Cambodia?
As for AH HUN MANET who had been living comfortably like King under his father corrupted dictatorship and now he is asking for dirt poor Cambodian people to do more for him?
Oh I kept forgetting that AH HUN MANET is the son of Sdach Korn reincarnation! Ahhahhahahhahah
Please make way for Sdach Korn's son and he is coming to save Cambodia from the Cambodian monarchy! Ahhahahhah By the way I don't remember that Sdach Korn's son is slave to the Vietcong!
My beloved Khmers!
ReplyDeleteForgive me for unashamedly envying of Manet's higher education.
The irrationality of Khmeritude, my inferior understanding of the nature of Khmer PoliSick, Manet can not only polisickally, but mentally be a master in his own house, he is once again inescapably become an eternal Youn's slave as his father, Hun SenVarman!
Ah Kwack can you just learn to shot your mouth up? Leave the kid alone?
ReplyDeleteYour son is an adult let he do what ever he like it! You just do your fucking job as PM leave the kitchen story at home!
With no reason you make people calle you " Ah Pleu" and bring your children into the curse!
You PHD from Hanoi is a shame fool!
Hanoi may feel shame on you too! but what the fuck they have to give it to you with out education ? The fucking Vietnamese Youn Hanoi must be a Neulmam drunk!
political dynasty in a family is never a good thing, at least in the eyes of the people, not just in cambodia but all over the world for that matter. let other capable people with fresh ideas and concepts lead too not the old, small minded in a family-run political dynasty or something. remember cambodia begs to be different, not the same like in the failed, miserable past history. thank you and god bless cambodia.
ReplyDeleteNo, not at all for tieing families member to political purposes.
ReplyDeleteHanoi Phd is world class, moron (12:30). That is why they've won all wars.
ReplyDeleteThis freaking Viet-born troller, a parasite @ 4:53 AM that pretends to be Khmer and speaks as if he were Khmer must be castrated and have his dick fed to the Viet dog...
ReplyDeleteViet Go home!
The world sees and knows you Viet true color already and that is the universal language!
4 53am. Hanoi Phd is not world class. They won the war because Chine and Russia helped them.
ReplyDeleteIf Ho Chi Minh didn't join Communism, China took Srok Youn for a long time.
Well then, you must be on crack because no one sited any Chinese nor Russian army doing any shooting in Vietnam. It was all done by 100% Vietcong.
ReplyDeleteHello everyone, namely all anonymous, especially PM Hun Sen, people, especially adult ones, have their own freedom to choose whatever they think best for them by not ruining the very law and benefits of their very own nations. PM, why don't you allow your very brillaint son of yours to choose what he wants to be to contribute to the nation as a whole? He may or will be the greatest general of all times in Cambodian history, I strongly believe. All commented men, please use appropriate language as you said you are living in the civilized world. And people in the civilized world won't say such rude or harsh words to attack certain indivuals like this though they have freedom to express and say anything they want. What are the results that you get from that? It's nothing or maybe the fear of death though it's your freedom. Why don'you use polite words to criticize people ha? OK, how do you feel if curse you by using such words in the public as a result of whatever you do, right or wrong? People in the modern world like America never use such words in politics. They just raise their intonations to express their emotions. Finally, it's time to reunite and do everything for the prosperity of our nation? "United we stand, divided we die." Wishing for the reunion, peace, and prosperity of our nation. Cambodia needs very indepedent and disciplined individuals, families to build and prosper the nation. Thanks
ReplyDeleteThe deed and conduct of the pareents are not related to the sons or daughters, right? I don't think the leader full of Cambodian blood would do anything to destroy his nation. Only dedicated Cambodian patriots, I think, deserve the seats in politics based on their merits. So if the son of the PM has enough ability to run certain part(s) or sector(s) of the country, why doesn't he deserve ha? Everyone can contribute to the nation in whatever forms. General citizens can contribute by forming ideal families. Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is gift that's why it's called the present. United we stand, divided we die. It's time.
ReplyDeleteI read all of the comments in the respond except two that have rational criticism. I do not see that name calling get you to anywhere except you are sound like a fool. If you have a good ideas stated it and formed the group discussing. you guys gave me the impression that you do not act any different from Hun Sen if you are in power. You sound just like Hun Sen and you are not any help for the khmer people. Education is empower people, and take you out from the poverty. Be honest, have you ever take time to educate the farmers and there children how to read and write, just basic. Especially, young girls, if you educated on young girl then in turn she will spread the knowledge to her family. Khmer culture did not emphasize enough on education. We have to teach our youngsters how to do things. It started from the grass-root. It has to start from inside out and the strong foundation.
