Several dozens of families refused to obey the order to evacuate from the lake shore.

About 50 families of villagers have announced that they refused to leave their homes, in spite of the ultimatum launched by the Phnom Penh city.

Pol Tourist, a representative of the community, indicated that he and the recalcitrant villagers are “prepared to die” rather than accepting the proposed indemnification offer.

“The Phnom Penh city and the Council of Ministers have declared in 2007 that no eviction policy would take place, consequently, we decide to stay and we are demanding for the setup of an on-the-spot development policy,” Pol Tourist said during a press conference on Thursday 20 August.

“Our home is what feeds us,” he added.

Of the 200 families, whose house are built on the lake, who are affected by the first phase of the project, about 50 of them have refused to accept the indemnification offer which includes a plot of land far away from the city. The remaining families have accepted the offer and left.

Altogether, more than 4,000 families are affected to date by the real estate development which involves the filling of the lake.

    ACID ATTACK ON TAT MARINA
Cambodian People's Party Hun Sen Khmer Rouge Regime had committed acid attack.
"On December 5, 1999, Tat Marina, age 16, was severely disfigured in an acid attack in Phnom Penh. The attack was allegedly committed by Khun Sophal, the wife of a senior government official, Svay Sitha, because she was angry her husband had a sexual relationship with Tat Marina. Neither Khun Sophal nor those suspected of being her accomplices in the attack were brought to justice. Intense media publicity compelled the Phnom Penh Municipal Court to issue an arrest warrant for Khun Sophal for attempted murder, but the police claimed that they could not locate her, although journalists reported that she was living at home as usual."

TORTURE AND MURDER ON PRAK SITHA WHILE IN CUSTODY BY MISNISTRY OF INTERIOR OFFICIAL
Cambodian People's Party Hun Sen Khmer Rouge Regime had committed torture and murder.
"On the night of January 16, 2003, a street youth named Prak Sitha was beaten to death at the Ministry of Interior (MOI) headquarters after he was arrested and detained by off-duty MOI officers on suspicion of theft. His body - bearing numerous injuries to the head, torso, arms, and legs - was dumped at a Phnom Penh pagoda the following morning by ministry officers, in violation of police regulations regarding deaths in custody. No criminal charges were filed in connection with this death. In December 2004, the case was cited by the UN secretary-general's special representative for human rights in Cambodia - who stated that Prak Sitha died at the ministry "following beatings by a known police officer" - as an example of a "consistent and continuing pattern of impunity" in Cambodia."

Mean Sokchea, in a drunken stupor, fired his gun and apparently mistakenly hit Put Samphors in the stomach. She was taken to a hospital but later died of her wounds. Mean Sokchea was detained by the police overnight but was then released, allegedly after intervention by Hing Bun Heang. Put Samphor's family received US$2,700 from Mean Sokchea, and the police told them that their daughter was shot while authorities were chasing robbers."

It is very disgusted as Khmer Rouge tribunal is still carrying on for the crime in the last 30 years and now a new crime is committing to Bung Kok 'resident. What a shameble government for not learning the crimes of the past and allow a new crime to carry on. Only animal has this kind of mentality. Areak Prey

    Response to 8AM:

Hey scumbag....before saying anything....twist your damn tongue 100 or 1000 times first. Look into the real problem deeply and you will see what's going on. People in Boeng Kak are NOT that greedy as what you were paid to say man. They are just trying to demand for appropriate compensation. If such problem happened with your family, would you accept it? Most houses are so big and made by very good quality of wood...and even made from concrete as well. If you guy have times...you should visit there and have a clear look. For those who own small houses, it's probably fit for them and they are willing to move out. NEVER EVER LOOK IN ONE SIDE! But the CPP's Shukaku owner Ah Lao Meng Khin should open its eyes wide and see the injustice and pains of the people. You guy should not look down on people...and don't consider people as trashes....
