PONGROR - Cambodia successfully tested a multiple rocket launcher yesterday in a show of force that comes amid simmering tensions with its neighbour Thailand.
Some 200 rounds from the Soviet-made, BM-21 rocket launcher were fired in the mountains of remote Kampong Chhnang province, some 80km north of the capital Phnom Penh.
"This is a normal drill and preparation to defend the nation in case there is an invasion," Prime Minister Hun Sen said.
He has recently made a number of fiery speeches railing against Thai "invaders" and "thieves" in disputed territory around an 11th century temple on Cambodia's border with Thailand, where there have been deadly clashes in the past two years.
But Thailand's government downplayed the Cambodian drill and said there had been no troop reinforcements in the area.
"I don't think Cambodia wants to intimidate us, as we have sent them a clear signal that we don't want the dispute to go out of control," Thailand's Deputy Prime Minister, Mr Suthep Thaugsuban, said.

Why dont you ask those so-called "Domnang Reas" who are working at the God Damn Cambodian Parliament this question; or do they really know what the fuck their duties and respobibilties are as people representatives? These bastards at the Parliament got paid at least $2500.00 per month just to sit on their ass and be a uselss patethic fools, no wonder Vietnamese are flocking into Cambodia like wild rabbits. Cambodian problems are easily solved even kids who just got out from US High Schools can easily solve Cambodian problems. Here is my prediction for Cambodia: 1) Cambodia will be swallowed by Vietnam in less than 25 years counting from today's calendar; 2) Most children that were borned in Cambodia from 1979, most are Vietnamese related, thus they have the right to operate inside Cambodia while their origin birth parents are Vietnamese and Cambodian father who are supporting of Vietnamese invasion during January 7th, 1979; 3) These children once grown, they will operate inside Cambodia as a host to Vietnam by openning Vietnamese Associations throughout the 24 Provinces in Cambodia; 4) These Vietnamese Cambodians are in schools at this moment and once they are equipped with education, in addition, they can write and speak Khmer very fluently...that's when they will openly recruit and take over Cambodian Parliament...Check Mate! Once Cambodian Parliament is in their full control what do you think will happen to Cambodia?
Here is my prediction at the AFTERMATH:
1) These children will incorporate Cambodia into Vietnam, perhaps the name of Cambodia will change into something else, just like "Prey Nokor" into "Saigon" at the present time. Look what happened to Champa. Champa was known as " Champa ", but it changed into "Dai Viet" and later was changed into "Nam Viet" and now known as "Vietnam".
2) Most Cambodians will be forced to learn Vietnamese, Buddhism will probably be demolish and force to practice "Catholic" instead.
3) Most of the important High Ranking positions throughout Cambodia will be given to Vietnamese high profile individuals who sent from Hanoi.
4) Tough rules will be enforced by Vietnamese Secret Agents and these VSA will become Hanoi most cruel assassins toward the weak and prone and useless Cambodians.
Watch! It is heading there sooner then we thought.
