Cambodia slams UN mission for meddling

March 12, 2010
Xinhua

Cambodia on Friday warned the UN mission not to act out of its mandate and interfere in the internal affairs of a UN member state.

The statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation was a response to the statement of the UN country team on Wednesday saying the adoption of Cambodia's anticorruption law should "undergo a transparent and participatory consultation process."

Moreover, the UN country team in its statement also "encourages the National Assembly to allow sufficient time for Parliamentarians, civil society, donors and the UN to study the law so that if and where deemed necessary, amendments may be proposed for consideration."

The foreign ministry's statement said that the UN country team commented on the adoption process of the Cambodian Anti-Corruption Law "as though it was lecturing the Royal Government of Cambodia on what to do about this law."

"This so-called UN Country Team should not act out of its mandate, in flagrantly interfering in the internal affairs of a UN member state," the statement said.

A monument for the worst dictatorship and most corrupt regime on earth!!!
Hun Sen and his government look like more and more as a bunch of brutal reactionary gang. They are willing to compete with Marcos, Suharto in Asia or Mobutu, King of Zaire and the current president of Zimbabwe in Africa. They head to be a more and more dictatorial, more and more corrupt regime on earth. "Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely!" So wake up donor countries that give him generously so far. Hun Sen and the CPP forget that it was the UN that brought peace and stability and now prosperity to Cambodia. Do they want to make Cambodia an isolated and backward country again? Without the UN, the Siems would take Preah Vihear back and Hun Sen couldn’t do anything at all! Jungle men like Hun Sen and his rotten cronies always behave like they still in the Stone Age. With the corruption law they have just passed without debate and participation from the general population and the opposition parties, they are building a monument for the worst dictatorship and most corrupt regime on earth!

In Cambodia, there is law, law, law.....every where. Laws ONLY to show the world that Cambodia also has laws. Laws ONLY to threaten poor people to obey but the high officials NEVER do. Laws that government officials themselves don't care and never will. It is a useless inti-corruption law. Law that no body this day think it is a big deal and why care.

    12:24am,
Cambodia is too obvious. Don't need to be judge by experts. Ordinary people can see and hear it. Except you and CPP supporters see it otherwise. Seeing white as black while everyone in the whole universe see white as white.

Stop speaking good for Hun Sen! You know as well as everyone else that Hun Sen's government is unethical and crazy. They are lucky Cambodians citizens are coward. Otherwise they would have been assasinate long long ago.
