A FORMERLY well-heeled resident of Russey Keo district says that local authorities robbed her of hundreds of thousands of dollars in jewellery and removed US$2 million worth of property last week while serving a Supreme Court warrant to evict her from her villa.

Hang Borey said $60,000 in cash and $260,000 worth of jewellery were removed from her home during the raid on Friday, along with $2 million worth of other property.

“They removed all my property – I’ve lost everything now,” Hang Borey said. “I was not informed in advance about my removal from the villa.”

Hang Borey said her partner, Yors Sokuntheary, purchased the villa in 2007 from the brother of its Chinese owner, who was serving a jail term overseas. She added, however, that she never received a land title or a deed to the property. Hang Borey says that after the original owner returned to Cambodia, he took her to court in 2008 to get his property back, and that the Supreme Court ruled in his favour earlier this year.

The home’s original owner has since transferred his rights to the property to Sok Kong, president of the Sokimex development company, Hang Borey said. She added that she had filed a complaint against Sok Kong to Prime Minister Hun Sen.

Russey Keo deputy Governor Koub Sleh said district officials were simply following the Supreme Court’s ruling.

“I have no right to talk about the court’s decision. We were just following the court’s warrant,” he said.

Phnom Penh Municipal Court deputy prosecutor Hing Bunchea said he had not seen any money or jewellery lying around the house when local officials entered to serve the warrant.

Sok Kong could not be reached for comment.

well, it goes to show no one can win with the law, if people and society in cambodia do not tolerate or put up with it, really! this is probably a wake up call for people from all walks of life in cambodia. people, with the help of the court of law, that is, are a force to be reckoned with, you know! it's just a start, perhaps, a step in the right direction, slowly but surely, maybe! god please help khmer to see clearly with law and justice. thank you god.

Under Dictator Hun Sen regime, only criminals/corrupts can thrive and win in court. Every time I hear the court order, it reminds me of a toilet paper that already has been wiped by the dictator Hun Sen's craps. Everyone has to lick it when see it whether you like or not. An insult to Justice of the Khmerland.

The describe the Hun Sen regime correctly: the Banana Republic with Jungle Law, and only the lawless thrive! Today Cambodia is a heaven for the world criminals.

Hun Sen way of seeing the world that is to have more dirt poor Cambodian people as possible and only him can be rich and powerful at the top!

This is the very reason why Cambodia doesn't produce more millionaires and billionaires than Thailand, Vietnam,Malaysia, Indonesia...

So the name of the game is that if you are poor and you must remain poor and if you rich and you will remain rich unless you kiss Hun Sen's arse!

In the future without Hun Sen and I want to see more Cambodian millionaires even billionaires and more middle class highly educated who can contribute back to Cambodian society in a positive way! It seems that right now only one person Hun Sen who contributes back to dirt poor Cambodia by stealing from dirt poor Cambodian people!

Yes, I sell Cambodian/Khmer land, forest, Angkor-Wat and whoever protest me, I put them in Jail, and I make their family bail them out.

I think this is a case of dog eats dog in a corrupt society where some of the dogs think they can get away without penalty. Cambodian government's job is to create a manageable roadway for their people to progress. But what kind of roadway are we seeing? Is this how we prepare for our future generations?

Yes, Hun Sen and his regime (CPP), Sok Kong, Hok Lundy and Le Duc Tho must go to trial as well.

The Baath regime launched 39 separate gas attacks against the Kurds, many of them targeting villages far from the Iran-Iraq border. Beginning at night on Thursday, March 16, and extending into Friday, March 17, 1988, the city of Halabja (population 70,000), was bombarded with twenty chemical and cluster bombs. Photographs show dead children in the street with lunch pails. An estimated 5,000 persons died. Although some analysts say the gas used was hydrogen cyanide (not in Iraq's arsenal), others have suggested it might have been sarin, VX, and tabun. Iraq is known to have these agents. (Iran is not known to have hydrogen cyanide, in any case).

High Iraqi officials, including Vice-Premier Tariq Aziz, have since admitted using chemical weapons against the Kurds. Last year, Radio Free Iraq broadcast the allegation by a former brigadier general in Saddam's air force that the command to use "extraordinary" weapons against Halabjah came from the president himself.

And during the YUON's controlled Cambodia there were another 500,000 or 1/2 a million died because of YUON wanted us clear the mines for them.
