BANGKOK, Nov 15 (TNA) - Thailand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs lodged a protest against Cambodian authorities who performed a religious ceremony at a temple located in Thai territory.
In an Aide-Memoire dated November 13, the Thai government protested Cambodia’s Kathin ceremony which was held at Keo Sikha Kiri Savara pagoda on November 12.
Thai officials in the border province of Si Saket reported seeing around 500 Cambodian people at the temple.
"Such action was considered a blatant and willful violation of Thailand’s sovereignty as the crowd had entered Thai soil without permission from the Thai government," said the aide-memoire.
The statement also mentioned Thailand still maintained its standpoint in working constructively and closely with Cambodia within the existing framework of the Thai-Cambodian Joint Boundary Commission on Demarcation for Land Boundary or JBC to resolve their border conflict in a peaceful manner.

ReplyDeletethai protests in order to construct a legal basis for bargaining some part of land at least. if we keep negotiating, then one day Cambodia will fall in thai's tactic which cause lose of land. At that time thailand will use legal process to solve problem by ignoring bilateral negotiation, like there is happening now. this is the trick of thai, everyone knows their nature.

I think the reason why Thai government is playing two face with us because they want to use this issue to distract from their national political turmoil caused by the opposition. If they genuinely want Khmer land, don't you think they would not try to negotiate with us at all?
ReplyDeleteI start to think Thai knows that they will never get Preah Vihear but they are using this to divert the attention of the opposition or maybe try to soften the opposition by taking on the same stance as them.
We're all thinking Thai is stupid to try to encroach and steal Khmer land but if they want it, why haven't they done anything serious to make advance?

In the spirit of friendly neighbors, Thailand isn't. Blatantly, it is working not toward resolving the border resolution for the peaceul coexistant between the two countries, but to building their case for future litigation. Khmer government must be careful when they decide in any agreements.

We should sue them for violation of the 1907 treaty/territorial contract, and for dammage and loss of life committed on Khmer land.
