Phnom Penh - Mr. Chea Chanboribo, spokesman for Prince Ranariddh, on 18th December has written a letter rejecting reports published in the Moneaksekar newspaper that Prince Ranariddh has requested to Samdech Dejo Hun Sen to provide him with a royal residence in from of the Preah Meru Royal Ground. The reports further accused that the prince has also asked for the appointments of 200 of his supporters to work in the King’s Cabinet.

In a letter to the editor of Moneaksekar newspaper, Mr. Chea Chanboribo wrote: “The spokesman of Prince Ranariddh, chief of the king’s advisory council, vehemently denied all unjust allegations levelled at Samdech Krom Preah (Ranariddh). The publication of unclear sources shows the irresponsibility, the lack of professionalism and the lack of journalistic ethics of the journalist.”

The letter further added that: “Up until this time, Samdech Krom Preah has never requested to the king to appoint any officials, so the reports published in the Moneaksekar newspaper are malicious allegations intended to damage the honour, the reputation and the dignity of Samdech Krom Preah as well as the honour of Samdech Dejo Hun Sen, the prime minister of Cambodia.”

At the same time, the letter has warned that, shall the Moneaksekar newspaper failed to provide evidence of the allegations as requested, legal measures will be taken to find justice for Prince Ranariddh.

Mr. Dam Sith, editor of Moneaksekar newspaper, cannot be contacted for comments at the time this article is published.

it is good that the royals were given some roles in the palace so they can exit from politics. if the allegations are true that ranariddh sought to appoint 200 loyalists in the palace, i think it is very inappropriate. it would be a waste of state money. hun sen has already appointed too many of his cronies in the govt. already and most have no work to do. so it is time stop appointing more.

I think his plan would be to assasinate the king and lobby Hun Sen to nominate him. HOW CAN a person who sold his own party, a person who could not run a party BE AN ADVISOR TO THE KING? Now, he wants 200 people, for what?
