Did Hun Xen blink first by cancelling the visit to Cambodia's Ta Moan Thom temple?

Hun Sen cancels Surin temple visit

8/02/2010
Bangkok Post

Cambodia's Prime Minister Hun Sen cancelled his planned visit to Ta Muen Thom temple in Surin province and returned to his own country via helicopter on Monday, Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya's secretary Chavanond Intarakomalyasut said.

Mr Hun Sen decided not to visit Ta Muen Thom ruins in Surin province after Thai authorities demanded his military escort not carry weapons, Mr Chavanond said.

The Cambodian premier said he understood the regulations and did not want to create tension between soldiers from the two countries even though he wanted to travel as a tourist.

Foreign Ministry Information director-general Wimol Kidchob said Mr Hun Sen's visit did not violate the sovereignty of Thailand.

The Cambodian government had previously twice asked Thai authorities for permission for Mr Hun Sen to visit the ancient Khmer temple.

  2. Why do we need to get the permission from other country while visiting on our own land? This question should be politically corresponded in all Cambodian borders; including between Cambodia - siam; Cambodia -lao and Cambodia - vietnam. Siam is seemed to learn from Vietnam now. Cambodia govt must review all border policies with neighboring countries.

The Thais and the Vietnamese have never respected Cambodian borders!

The world belongs to the strongest so the Khmers have no choice, but to stop fighting among each other and really learn to be united if they want to protect their remaining land!

    They have no other choices.

I think Cambodian government is not certain whether Ta Moan Temple and its surrounding belong to Cambodia. That is why Hun Sen cancelled his trip to the temple. If it were Cambodian temple, Hun Sen might have visited.

The Thais have won by using brinkmanship strategy. I thought it would be Hun Sen who would use it as he always does with his opponents.

Prasat Stok Kok, a size of Ta Moan temple, is also under Thailand now.

Hey you made a big mistake. Prasat Tamoan Thom is located on the Cambodian territory, as testified by maps and documents from the pre-war period including publication by French experts.

Today, 8th February, PM Hun Sen and Cambodian officials visit Ta Moan Thom.

I visited Ta Moan Thom. It is clear that it is in Cambodia. The Thais don't have any evidence that Ta Moan Thom belong to them. It is true that Ta Moan Toch is in Thailand. Now they want to swallow Ta Moan Thom.

Why we still have border issues with Thailand and Vietnam?
Does our Cambodian government know exactly where is our border located?
Why It take so long to end this border issues with Thailand?
    Is it a political game?

We have every thing already,map,1962 court,1991 Paris... and UN; Why don't the government act and use that?
If today government is willing to do so, then we won't lose any land to Thailand or Vietnam and It won't waste time...

    Dear 3:43 pm

You guys fell for their trap. Cambodia foreign minister stated earlier that Mr. Hun Sen never intended to visit that temple from the start. Even his couples of speech during his visit never even mention Ta Moan Temple. Bangkok release fake news in order to make him look bad.

Now Vietnam agrees that all of Vietnam-Cambodia border posts were WRONG, they already removed those posts.
Why Hun Sen lost his time at the west, go to the EST, there, Camboida lost more lands.
Why you are so afraid of Yuons ?
    Your father is Yuon ?
    Your mother was Yuon ?
    Your wife is Yuon ?

The best way, Cambodia must run by a new government, new man, Hun Sen is a Yuon slave, he must step down, let other does the job because Hun Sen serves Yuon. We need someone who owes nothing to nobody.

WEST -- Khmer Prime Minister needs Thai PM's permission to visit Ta Meorn Thom temple in Cambodia.

EAST -- Meas Srey & Prum Chea, Khmer farmers and rice field owners, need permission from Vietnam to uproot wooden stakes from their own rice fields in Cambodia.

Now I hope Hun Xen would understand how Meas Srey and Prum Chea may feel when a Vietnamese-puppet court in Svay Rieng sentenced them to one year imprisonment for "destruction of public property."
