Hun Sen arrives in disputed area

6/02/2010
Bangkok Post

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen has on Saturday morning arrived at the Ko Mui village nearby the Preah Vihear ancient temple, an informed source said.

It was reported that the commander of Army Region 2 Lt-Gen Weewalit Jornsamphan would be present at the border area of Si Sa Ket province to greet the Cambodia leader.

The Thai soldiers have set up barbed-wire at the entrance road to the Khao Preah Vihear temple national park in order to prevent people from trespassing to the disputed area.

They were ordered not to allow any people to go to the national park while Hun Sen was visiting the disputed area to prevent problem from taking place.

Veera Somkwamkid, a core leader of the People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD), insisted on Saturday that he would not lead PAD members to protest against Hun Sen as earlier planned.

Deputy Prime Minister for security affairs Suthep Thaugsuban said on Friday that he hoped Mr Veera would drop his plan to lead PAD members in a protest against Hun Sen during the visit.

“Mr Veera should refrain from causing more problems as it is the responsibility of the government to settle border disputes with our neighbour,” Mr Suthep said.

Please don't get confused...it's not a disputed border area. According the world court decision of June 15, 1962, Prasat Preah Vihear and the surrounding area belongs to Cambodia. Samdech Hun Sen can come and go as he pleases on Khmer soil.

The border problem has been over a year now and solution has not been solved. What is the hold up, or Cambodia afraid to make the decision to solve the conflict?

    1:36PM, Idiot! Do your research!
Cambodian military are no comparison to Thia military. Is like holding a chopstic to fight Thai with long sword.

Thai armforces training and equiptments are mainly from US. They are up to par although they never had any war in the last century. They are well prepared just like any modern country. From ground, water and air.

On Cambodia end they mainely have scrap equiptments from Youn like the "Mink" Youn fighter jets almost 40 years old. Most of the tools are left over junks from Vietnam War. The equiptments don't always work right 80% of the time. When it does work sometime it is not reliable. In addition to junky equiptments Cambodia don't even have specialist to operate them. Pathetic! Cambodian armforces only good enoug to threating its own citizens.

1:36PM, Stop bluffing! Thai war equiptmenst are modern up todates. Cambodia equiptments are ancient, from dinosour age.

Do yor research on Thai and Cabodia arm forces. You'll know what I mean.

Cambodia have no chance with Thailand! The Thai soldiers you see at the Prea Vihear border is just crums mainely from Surin area. You have not seen their real war head! If allow they can destroyed Phon Penh in 30 seconds. The whole Cambodia in 2 minutes.

1:36PM, STOP BLUFFING! YOU KNOW YOU ARE! EVERYONE KNOWS YOU ARE!

Cambodia and Thai should settle the border disputes. It should not escalade to war. Cambodia will not have chance to win. Their military is only good enough to threat poor unarmed Khmer citizens.
