Five days after PM Hun Xen’s visit to the western border zones, the military situation is still under alert in these areas. Right now, Thailand is also holding a military exercise along the border. This exercise is intended to show Thailand’s muscle to Cambodia after Hun Xen issued strong warnings to Thailand. The Thai action leads to increasing tension along the border.
One day after Hun Xen ended his visit to the border, Thailand held a military exercise along the border. The major and lengthy military exercise is currently taking place in Thailand’s Ubon province which is neighboring with Cambodia’s Preah Vihear and Oddar Meanchey provinces.

A military source based at the location indicated that Cambodian troops are under alert, and they are closely following the Thai military exercise. Alert among the Cambodian troops alert stems from the concerns that the Thai military exercise could trespass into Cambodian territories. Last year, several artillery shells were fired into Cambodia during a similar Thai military exercise. However, at that time, Thai troops claimed that they shelled into Cambodia by mistake.

However, this time, Cambodian army officers warned in advance that, should there be any new intrusion, Cambodia will not look away like last time. Furthermore, in the current exercise, Thailand has also increased the number of its troops very significantly and this is a matter of concerns. The addition of Thai troops started since Hun Xen’s visit to the Wat Keo Sekha Kiri Svarak pagoda on 06 February. Hun Xen’s arrival led to the kicking out of 10 Thai soldiers stationed there.

Hun Xen’s stern speech and his verbal attack to the invaders created havoc in Bangkok, and it also led to the addition of Thai border troops preparing to take over the 4.6-sq-km of Cambodian territories that they invaded in the past. Nevertheless, Cambodian and Thai troops stationed along the frontline had met to negotiate in order to smooth out the situation.

At a time when diplomatic relation between the two countries is at its lowest point, the mutual display of military muscle is a case of deep concern. The confrontation could easily lead to war.

    This is too obvious:

The Ah Kwak Kbot Cheat Hun Xen government was exacerbating tensions with Thailand in order to divert the public attention from worsening internal problems (economic crisis, unemployment, corruption, land grabbing, popular discontent) and from the ongoing annexation of Cambodian territories by Vietnam.

As long as Ah Kwak Kbot Cheat Hun Xen is alive Cambodia will never have opportunity to improve. Most Khmer people wish Thai somlap Ah Kwak Kbot Cheat Hun Xen as soon as possible.

The Khmer people were and are friends of Thai people because we have alot of things together.

But history tell us, Thai had never lost on the battles with Khmer. The former Khmer Rouges in Phnom Penh, you had win the with with Gen. Lon Nol (surported indirect by USA) but please don't compared with us now and your pride must be restricted.

well if the Thais think they are better than Khmer, why don't you try to put your foot inside or Preah Vihear.? Stop bullshiting about how better you are. The Thais should bow to Cambodia for helping them from the Viet invader.

Maintain high combat readiness. Stay alert and invisible. Let those Thai clown soldiers dance and make all the noises they want, but if they ever put their foot in our land, you are authorized to shoot-to-kill without warning.

    Mr. Ayuthiyea,

What will Thailand gain by going to war for a piece of Land that is internationally recognized as Cambodia's property?

I hope your PM Abhisit is smarter than that. PM Hun Sen may be rude with his comments but I don't see where the hammer misses the nail, Abhisit's head!

The Yellow shirts aka People Alliance of Dictatorship (PAD) in Thailand are so paranoid.

One of the crazy PAD named "Suriyasai" spread lies to all Thai people that Thailand is in danger of becoming a colony of Cambodia.
If Thailand will be becoming Cambodia's colony then anti-Hun Sen are going to celebrate Hun Sen's day as a national Holliday because he is Khmer Hero. But I doubt it, because Hun Sen is a dumbest.

Read this link below, how the ultra-PAD are so paranoid.
