A source close the Supreme Court indicated on 23 March 2010 that the court will hold a hearing on 07 April to decide on the appeal case by SRP MP Mu Sochua who is accused of defaming Hun Xen. On 28 October 2009, the Appeal court held a hearing on this defamation case after Mrs. Mu Sochua appealed the decision handed down by the Phnom Penh municipal court which ordered her to pay a $4,100 fine. Mrs. Mu Sochua refused to pay that fine. The Appeal court upheld the decision issued by the lower court. Mrs. Mu Sochua then appealed to the Supreme Court at the end of 2009. Yim Sovann, SRP spokesman, said that Mrs. Mu Sochua is currently traveling to the US and she will returned back by the beginning of April. However, he said that he does not know the date set for the Supreme Court hearing.

ReplyDeleteWill disgrace Mu Sochua going to jail rather than pay the fine? I don't think so. She can show her stunt and talking as much as she wants but the end of the day, she will bow her head and pay the fine in order to keep her political career more longer.

ReplyDeleteDisgrace Mu Sochua’s problem all along, is that she is trying to be a politician. She's not, never has been and quite obviously, never will be. She should have just been herself, provide alternative policies and show Khmer people what a great alternative MP opposition she would be. Instead, her foray into being a politician has been a disaster. She comes across as pretending to be something she's not. Now, her political career is on the line and herself also in the hot water.
ReplyDeleteWhile the nation is facing complex economic, social and environmental issues disgrace Mu Sochua tried to promote her political stunt, aimed to get media attention. If this wasn’t such a clear demonstration of her selfish pursuit of personal ambition it would be laughable. There is no doubt that Mu Sochua has no real regard for the best interest of the nation. She is driven solely by a desire to become a “Champion of Women or new Aung San Suu Kyi” by any means available to her, even if that has the potential to destabilize the country. Even worse she is going to appeal her case against Prime Minister Hun Sen to the Supreme Court despite the Appeal Court upheld her conviction as the verdict which has issued by the Phnom Penh municipal Court.
People of integrity admit their faults, make amends and are judged fairly...Disgrace Mu Sochua is lacking in integrity and common sense and tries to change Cambodia into her own world. As long as Cambodia’s Court doesn’t issue any verdict which is fitted for her political stunt, she will scream for the justice all day long.

ReplyDeleteYou are living in a wrong country my friend because Australia is a Democracy country. You need to pack your bag and move back living with your Papa Hun Sen. My question to you is, why do you enjoy living in Australia so much? Or may be you must hate it here due to the Democracy system government. I don't think Australia constitution allowed one person to stay in power over 30 years. I am wondering why? Also does the judicial system in Australia allowing Prime minister to dictate their decission?

I think, Mrs. Mu wanted to be like Sarah Palin. She wanted the attention and she got it! Even McCain and the rest of republicans were fooled by Mrs. Palin. Well look at her now, she's a celebrity! Not to mention the best sellers book, Fox anchor women, the list goes on!

If I were you, Mrs. Mu pay the fine forget about the politics. It's has no place for a woman, at least not yet! If you still want to get involved in politics, you need to find yourself the best campaign adviser. Good Luck, hope I don't hear or see your face again!
Khmer Australian, I don't think you are because in Aust, we value women activists and we would encourage them to act for the most vulnerable people just like Ms Mu and we love to solute them as if they are our angels. Mu Sochua is a fine woman doing her best to help all the disadvantages people. I believe she has been chosen by God to do his will for him and knowing that it is better our souls be saved than our body. Well done Ms Mu and May God be you now and forever, Amen. Aust
