It took Hun Xen almost 3 years since the GW report before sacking Ty Sokhun? How about Hun Xen's relatives?

Ty Sokhun
On Tuesday, June 5, 2007, Everyday.com.kh posted the following report on Ty Sokhun:
"Ty Sokhun, the Director General of the Forestry Administration, who was named in Global Witness (GW) report as being one of the persons involved in illegal logging, had angrily reacted by calling Global Witness’ staff as ‘crazy people.’ Ty Sokhun recognizes that Khun Thong, who is also named by Global Witness, is indeed his father-in-law, but Ty Sokhun said that Khun Thong and his other relatives are not involved in illegal logging. Ty Sokhun told The Cambodia Daily on Monday that Global Witness produced lies in all the pages of its report, and he said that Global Witness issued this report only to attract attention and to obtain financial gain. He said that Global Witness report is laughable."
Hun Sen Sacks Top Forestry Official

By Heng Reaksmey, VOA Khmer
Original report from Phnom Penh
06 April 2010

Prime Minister Hun Sen publicly fired the head of the government’s forestry administration Tuesday, claiming the official proved unable to stop rampant illegal logging in the country.

Ty Sokhun was “no longer capable” of settling the deforestation issue, Hun Sen said in a speech broadcast nationwide from the annual meeting of the Ministry of Agriculture, which oversees the forestry department.

Hun Sen said Tuesday Ty Sokhun had made “grave mistakes” as head of the forestry administration.

The government is currently in the middle of a crackdown on illegal logging, but environmentalists say the sweep has been too little and too late in coming.

Government spokesman Khieu Kanharith said Tuesday authorities were working to “clear out” officials involved in deforestation.

“The action will be taken nationwide,” he said. “If not we cannot resolve [illegal logging].”

In a 2007 report, the environmental watchdog Global Witness singled out Ty Sokhun and other forestry and agriculture officials, as it accused the country’s elites, many of them close to Hun Sen, of exploiting timber resources.

The country lost as much as $2 billion in timber resources between 1993 and 2001, the group said, in report that was later banned by the government.

Meanwhile, the crackdown continues. Chhum Socheat, a spokesman for the Ministry of Defense, which is heading the campaign, said military forces would first sweep border areas near Thailand and Vietnam, seeking to arrest criminal organizers.

HunSen dares to fire Ty Sokhun, I doubt, however, that he doesn't have the guts to do the same thing to his corrupt relatives and to some plutocrats or magnates around him. Did he just punish Ty Sokhun as a warning to other? If so, he isn't that much of a hero. Listen, Mister. You do it to one, you do it to all.

At leats it is agood start.
Cracking down is simply applied to those on the top and their associates, that needs not to look too far.

Army and administration and their links(connections) are also heavily involved in land investment. Track down the ones who own massive land of the country because land sale was part of money laundering, the scam happened to be some neglegible benefits to the still poors but reaped the massive benefits to those fat cats.

It is formidable task, but you can do that PM.

Ah Ky Tech must procecute Ty Sokhun. This is a good case for the government prosecutor. Why ah Ky tech stays silence? No need to prosecute Sam Raingsy or Khmer farmers who lost land to Viet.

It is just a show more than just start. This is HS culture. When government short of money he punish some officers to show the world that he work hard to crack them down. Do we know Seng Kieng, the former wife of Hun Choch? she is the big timber smuggler. HS said he will punish his relative first. So, please see Seng Kieng Mister Hun Sen.

Ty sakun what you said about the global witness report. now is your turn. however, Cambodian people know that this is a culture of family tree, when you commit crime you will get higher post. Cambodian people want to see the man committed crime seats behind bar rather getting higher post. You can see this is the way of country managed by order or recommendation from one man and not by law. Who threat forestry officers must be investigated, as Sukun stated in PP post.

    Hi! dudes,

I am not trying to criticize anyone of you as well as the government, but this is just my own fucking opinion.

You all just saw that is the start to crackdown the corrupted officials, this is not right. I am telling you all. here below there are some questions need to think of.
    1) This is not a removal, but this is a transferring. before Ty Sokun was a Director of forestry Department, but now he was transferred to the under Secretary of State in the Ministry of Agriculture. He still remain in the same Ministry, but different position. He still can command of the new replacement in case if need.

    2) You are aware that the anti-corruption law will be adopted very soon. If this man remain in the position, then he will be in trouble, that is why transfer him to another position just to avoid any mis-conduct in a future. Of course, he is full enough to be transferred. Now he is a millionaire.

    3) His new replacement will cover what he has done in the past (sweep his ass) or cover his asshole.

    4) All of you never thought of, why this corrupted official did not receive a punishment from the court or government??? but he was given a higher rank instead??? (sic)

    5) This in Khmer saying that Sva Si bay oy pope tau tul khos. haaaa

This are just my own opinion in general, I am not trying to blame anyone.

Does anyone know the biography of Ty Sokhun?
What academic degree he earned? and from what school?

He was so young when he was appointed as the Director General of the Forestry Administration.
Is he or his wife related to any top CPP leader?

    Dear All,
Remember that when you cut so many trees from the forests, one day, areak prey will make a curse on you and your family. You and your family can faced by many bad lucks future such as loosing life, car accidents, terminal illness and so on. There is a limit on what you have done to the forests. It can also create drought and floods. You cannnot get away for destroying nature at all. Forests can create water and lives of all living things. Without forest everything will die out like Sahara.

Hun Sen is too afraid to catch the snake by its head.It seemed Ty Sokun did what he did because the food chain command was rotten too.

If Ty Sokun was incompetent in his duty and responsibility how about Ty Sokun suoperiors starting from Chan Sarun all the way to Sok An,the demon of eight arms?

Remove Chan Sarun from post then strip Sok An from other roles besides his job as the Minister of the council of ministers.

Trim off fatty perks and positions from Sok An then the rampant corruption network will likely lose its potence.

Ty Sokun is just a small dog yet under his master command.
