The Supreme Court issued its decision in the morning of 01 March in the case of opposition leader Sam Rainsy’s uprooting of border stakes in Chantrea district, Svay Reing province. The court upheld the sentence handed down by the Appeal court. At the beginning of 2010, opposition leader Sam Rainsy was sentenced by the Svay Rieng provincial court to 2 years of jail time and fined by 55 million riels ($13,750) for his uprooting of these border stakes. Then the Appeal court upheld this decision and now the Supreme Court also upheld this decision. SRP MP Ho Van said that the Supreme Court’s decision is unfair and cannot be accepted.
