Today, the Sam Rainsy Party has organized a meeting with party activists at its Phnom Penh headquarter. Similar meetings will also take place in various other provinces.
Several hundreds of people came to the meeting with Mr. Sam Rainsy on Monday afternoon at the SRP party headquarter. According to Yim Sovann, SRP spokesman, those who were invited to attend the meeting were mainly local party leaders in Phnom Penh city.
Yim Sovann indicated also that this is a new type of meeting, and it will also be held in various other provinces and locations where Internet access is available to setup a video conference.
Yim Sovann explained that it was a meeting between Sam Rainsy and party supporters, and during the meeting, exchanges can be made between Sam Rainsy and all his supporters.
Hang Puthea, the executive director of Nicfec, added that a show of activity [such as this video conference] is better than nothing. However he said that the meeting is only taking place through voice exchange, and whether one wants it or not, it is not like a face to face meeting. However, Yim Sovann seems to be confident on the organization to this type of meetings.
CPP MP Cheam Yeap said that it could be efficient, but only for a small group of people who live near large urban centers. For SRP supporters at the base or along the countryside, they could not reach Mr. Sam Rainsy.
The UN Office of High Commissioner of Human Rights (UN OHCHR) in Cambodia issued its reaction on 29 January, stating that it regrets to see Mr. Sam Rainsy being sentenced. It also stated that it regrets to see the court is used to react to a public problem.
On the other hand, the UN OHCHR seems to blame Mr. Sam Rainsy also, it indicated that he could have raised his concerns about the current process of border demarcation and sought clarification from the relevant authorities or the border demarcation committee, or discussed them at the National Assembly or otherwise publicly.

ReplyDeleteI cannot dispute with that that Raingsy is a very good leader. Can he do something to attract either US or China so one of them may be able to use or support him? Hun Sen is being used by Hanoi, Abhisit is sent by the west vs. China.
Hanoi claimed that Raingsy is King Sihanouk's messenger although Hanoi cannot prove. He went to Beijing and when he returned he went to help farmers that's how happened. It is good to let that happens, because now the whole world see and hear that Hanoi is invading and encroaching into Cambodia.

ReplyDeleteFrom 27th January 2010 onward, Xam Rainxy is a convicted criminal. So, his self name party also becomes a Criminal Party.
ReplyDeleteIt's so obvious for criminal, they have never admitted their crime but at the same time, they always try to say or show something to cover up their crime and get public sympathy but no matter what they crying out, no one is going to believe or take criminal's word seriously.
As a convicted criminal, Xam RainXy has no right to demand anything at all let alone put any condition to the government. There are two options for Xam Rainxy to face with. Either comes to serve jail time (2 years) in Cambodia or stays as a coward and shameful in France.
Since Xam Rainxy has uprooting border markings, he is often said that he will take this border's issue to International Court, but so far, there is no International Court. Right now, through interview with Radio Free Asia, he is shameless mentioned about International Court again. When he will complaint to International Court?? As I am aware, International Court in Xam Rainxy's view could be in Beijing and the judge is former King Sihanouk.

"Yuon" is a Khmer term for the Vietnamese people who once lived in Yunnan province southern China. This term is not a racist term, just a term which was derived from where they were originated. It had been used by Khmer people for hundreds of years. In fact, the Thai word for the Vietnamese people is also call "Yuon" - "ญวน". On the contrary, the Vietnamese word for Khmer people is "Mien" which is a derogatory term meaning "barbarian"! So to say that "Yuon" is a racist term is totally misinformed and incorrect...
