Yim Sovann, the SRP spokesman, pushed the government to form an independent border commission composed of all parties represented at the National Assembly (NA). Yim Sovann explained that this action would avoid any dispute between the opposition and the government when it comes to border issues with Vietnam.

Yim Sovann, SRP MP and spokesman, declared that he is pushing the government led by the CPP to form an independent border commission that would include all parties represented at the NA. The declaration came at a time when the SRP and the ruling CPP party are disputing each other on territories in Svay Reing’s Chantrea district, at the location where Mr. Sam Rainsy uprooted border stakes at the end of 2009.

Last week, Sam Rainsy showed several border documents during a video conference which indicate that these border stakes were planted inside Cambodian territories. However, sVar Kim Hong, the co-chairman of the joint Cambodia-Vietnam border committee, retorted, saying that Sam Rainsy showed locations that are contrary to what is shown on paper and on the spot.

The border exchanges filled with complicated technical issues led Yim Sovann, SRP spokesman, to push the government to form a new joint border commission with representatives coming from various political parties.

Yim Sovann added that the formation of this new border commission is done with the aim of seeking the truth, and to avoid any mix up between the government and the SRP.

In regards to Yim Sovann’s suggestion, sVar Kim Hong said today that the border commission is purely technical in nature, therefore, it cannot have political nature.

Last week, the Svay Rieng court sentenced opposition leader Sam Rainsy to a 2-year jail term after charging him with destruction of public properties and incitation to racial discrimination.

i think this is an excellent idea or concept to bring up and debate or discuss further. cambodia cannot afford to lose any lands, territories, etc like during the dark ages, again, really! plus, this is being proactive and working together for the common cause or good cause of the whole cambodia. i praise those lawmakers for suggesting such a great idea. remember too that when they propose something, they must be prepare to explain them in details as well so everyone can understand their point. hey, this is a real democracy when they discuss and debate like this. however, if they only use name-calling, etc, that won't solve anything excepting creating conflict and animosity among members of parliament, assembly, etc... glad to see leaders changed their old habit to embrace better ones, really! god bless cambodia.

From 27th January 2010 onward, Xam Rainxy is a convicted criminal. So, his self name party also becomes a Criminal Party.

It's so obvious for criminal, they have never admitted their crime but at the same time, they always try to say or show something to cover up their crime and get public sympathy but no matter what they crying out, no one is going to believe or take criminal's word seriously.

As a convicted criminal, Xam RainXy has no right to demand anything at all let alone put any condition to the government. There are two options for Xam Rainxy to face with. Either comes to serve jail time (2 years) in Cambodia or stays as a coward and shameful in France.

Since Xam Rainxy has uprooting border markings, he is often said that he will take this border's issue to International Court, but so far, there is no International Court. Right now, through interview with Radio Free Asia, he is shameless mentioned about International Court again. When he will complaint to International Court?? As I am aware, International Court in Xam Rainxy's view could be in Beijing and the judge is former King Sihanouk.

This is an excellent idea by Yim Sovann! The border commission should represent by all Cambodian political parties to avoid further dispute between the opposition and the Hun Sen government!

The very reason that Cambodia has peace today because all Cambodian parties agree to come to the table and talk peace and they can do the same thing with the Cambodian border issue!

Tell me if Mr. Sam Rainsy didn't uproot the Vietcong illegal border posts and who will?

Don't even depend on AH HUN SEN Vietcong slave government or dirt poor Cambodian farmers to uproot the Vietcong illegal border posts!

What Mr. Sam Rainsy had done is to take a stand and look at the Vietcong straight in the face and say no to Vietcong naked aggression!

"Yuon" is a Khmer term for the Vietnamese people who once lived in Yunnan province southern China. This term is not a racist term, just a term which was derived from where they were originated. It had been used by Khmer people for hundreds of years. In fact, the Thai word for the Vietnamese people is also call "Yuon" - "ญวน". On the contrary, the Vietnamese word for Khmer people is "Mien" which is a derogatory term meaning "barbarian"! So to say that "Yuon" is a racist term is totally misinformed and incorrect...
