Convicted former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra has been banned from entering Germany since last year, Hans Schumacher, the German Ambassador to Thailand, said on Sunday.

The German government will check if Thaksin could be using a false name and passport, Mr Schumacher said.

The envoy said many people travelled to Germany illegally and legal action will be taken if Thaksin was found in the country.

Thaksin earlier said he was visiting Germany to meet his two daughters.

The Foreign Ministry earlier claimed that the government of the United Arab Emirates had asked the ousted premier to leave Dubai for violating an agreement that he would not use the country as a base for his political activities.

I wonder if he didn't go to Nepal and scale Mount Everest. If he did that he could take back Thailand.
