again, forest issues is not a
nightmare by any mean. We can
replant the tree and make it a
lot more healthier than the
original. Therefore, If it
employed some people and make them
happy for the time being to use
our forest, by all mean, use it.
Oil, on the other hand, once it is
all use up, it won't come back for
millions of years, thus we should
managed it with great care.

I am a Cambodian student in Vietnam. I prefer marry a Vietnamese girl to a Cambodian girl, daughter of a CPP corrupt official. I don't like this race of vulture family.
You are right. Look at the off-springs of corrupt CPP officials. They care about nothing, except car, clothes,dancing....Vietnamese
girls have common sense and think more about National interests than CPP girls. Marry them. You will get intelligent off-springs.
Well done to Global Witness. The report is startling. It opens our eyes to the corruption activity of the blind government under the leadership of ah Hun Sen.
It is now no wonder why the country is getting poorer. In Singapore, the country has no resources whatsoever, but they build their country and cities into a world-class city. What they have is good behavior, excellent Human resource, and good management.
Cambodia, despite its forests and oil resource, has nothing else. What is even sadder is that those resources were not used to benefit the people and improve the country, but to enrich a few individuals. I can see that when the resources run out, Cambodia will be a beggar for the rest of their lives. Vietnam and Thailand is surging forward in terms of human resources and good management, and they will be light year ahead of us by light years.
But hey, why should the corrupt government of ah Hun Sen care? When Cambodia has nothing else to sell, they just simply fly overseas and live there happily with millions of dollars in their bank already. It's "all about me", they say. I am not surprised.
I wish there is a regime change soon. I wish to see that Hun Sen's monopoly on power ends miserably for him and his family.

10:52AM, you are right! The GDP in is so low. People make <$1 per day. That's horrid that the government neglected the Citizens so much. Also, the 80% unemployment in Cambodia would definitely tell something about the economy. How can these commentors make such remarks w/o the facts.

I just want to said.During pol pot regime took over so where the global withnes? So you have to open your eyes if Cambodia country going down.Why Cambodia country got more schools.more high ways,more temples,And will be more everythings in the future.If situation government don't do nothing it will be the same pol pot regime,but Cambodia country grow everything more than regime in the past.
Almost 30 years just have a few schools, roads and others with popopulation only around 14 millions and GDP of its people is less than $1/day, try to boast Hun Sen's regime is good. Ok, his government is good among the poorest country in the world. Live rely heavily on foreign donation. Every year, donor countries help with billion dollars and take only 1% or 2% of their money to build a few infrastructures.
What ashame! Please look at China with 1.3 billion people. Only Chongqing one of China cities with 32.25 million population. They have everything, people live happily and are being so proud with strong economy and sociable security of their nation to the world. Their Premier controls 1.3 billion people, Hun Sen controls 9 million of real Cambodian + 5million of Youn ethnic people and leads country nearly the end of life. I know he built some achievements but it is too slow, please look at our neighboring countries how far they go and how about their economy.Please do not look at a small tiny of the rich in Cambodia. Open your eyes broadly and look further than this, Look at the whold people in the country. Do not compare or take Pol Pot regime to hide your bad evil. Everybody knows Pol Pot's regime had nothing.
Global Witness is highly appreciated. It has been doing humanitian work on behalf of millions of innocent Cambodians.They have been ill-fated due to their incompetent past and present leaders for decades. For instance, Sihanuk turned to make friends with communists China and VN, resulting in a coup by Gen Lun Nol; then civil war which brought in Pol Pot who led on suspicion that killed millions. Next Hun Sun who led with VN 's lectures wasted 10 years (1979-89) for development. Now he is still in power with spoiled pride that he is the only person who is able to lead.But Cambodia is still ranked the poorest state, has lost almost all of its resources: public property, forests, islands, Angkor Wat, oil, sky controlled a socialist firm, mines by crooked Chinese firms backed by their gov's financial aids without conditions to the least responsible Cambo gov't. Though GW has warned of mismanagement of the country, worse still happens. Imagine without Global Witness!
I just want to know where global witness on 1979? They just let all khmer people were died lots by no food,and lots of khmer people got illness from pol pot regime? On 1979 khmer people did not have enough food,no cloth,no money,no home,no hospital,no everything.So global witness and UNHCR just believed some khmer people lived in Siem-Khmer border reported to them only.Why UNHCR and GLOBAL WITNESS racing all khmer lived inside of Cambodia on 1979-1985?
Where was GW in 1979? Wonder it it was established. If it were, it could not do anything to save this ill-fated Kingdom though. There was a wall called Cold War Wall then, which was put up by USSR and VN, the invader and potential colonialist of uncertain Cambodia.

Let's see their publications and comments as a room for debate and arguement rather than insults or instigations so that Cambodia becomes an argumentative society and can find ways upon which many, if not all Cambodians, agree to progress in a sustained manner. For example, how good is the management of national resources, (forests, gold in PVH and Ratankiri, oil), public properties ( Koh Pich, Boeungkak, gov't buildings and corner lots in PP, Olympic Statdium,islands in SHN province and Kampot, Angkor Wat ( heart and soul of Khmer)? According a leading real estate, a price of only one location called Beoung Kok lake is about 5 billions of US dollars, which is enough to build good roads, shcools equipped with computers, internet, books and libraries throughout Cambodia. The value of the rest can make the whole population have a big smile almost every day with little worry about not having money for health care, children's education, food (healthy food), visit to Siem Reap to see how beatiful Angkor Wat and its green atmosphere are, and other countries. I don't think all Global Witness said in its report is right. Its reporters sometimes try to manipulate the news, which are not originally true. The reason why I said like this because I have known deeply the heart of Global Witness since it started the first work in Cambodia around 1995. Don't believe all of what foreigners say is right. Be careful, or you are in irreversible trap. I don't think foreigners like stupid staffs of Global Witness love our country more than we do. Thanks for your attention to read my truth. SS
