After the unsuccessful attempt by a Thai film producer in its request to produce a movie on King Jayavarman VII, two local groups are vying to produce the movie on this famous Angkor-era king. One of the groups belongs to Moeung Son, the advisory chairman of the Khmer Civilization Committee, who wants to produce this movie on the famous king, and the other group is the Cambodian Writers Association. Kong Kantara, the director of the department of culture and cinematography of the Ministry of Culture, said that he received the request made by Sim Vanna, the chairman of the Cambodian Writers Association last week, to start producing this film on King Jayavarman VII. However, Kong Kantara said that he cannot allow two companies to produce the same movie at the same time. Moeung Son said that he does not have any objection if the Cambodian Writers Association wants to produce this movie, then he will pull out his request.

Leave the man in peace, please. He did what he knew best to make Khmer people and civilization respectible unlike some idiotics who wanted to be kings.

Right now best is to make a film about how Sihanouk the monkey king managed to kill and destroy millions of people who fed him and respected him.

Preap In and Sao Ngoy were shot because they spoke up against the Monkey, yet why people let this imbecile Monkey runs amok.

Well, I must say this is the pride and good news for us Khmer to tell the world and our neighbors how our glory days was. King Javaramann VII was the great king for the whole empire. There are statue of him in Thailand and Laos when the people cross his statue they always get off from their bycycles and take off their hat and show respect to him. Not just us Khmer regarded him and respected him for his might. Thailand and Laos show the most respect to him like us too. Go Khmer go!

I have yet to see a quality khmer movie. I hope they do not kill the story with a crappy movie.

Personally I would have the thai film it and the khmer produce it with approval of facts from the khmer side.

We should not rush into producing the documentary film of the King unless we find a well rounded and well suited company. Watch out for the opportunists!!!

Our great king biography is not the one to be played around with; many people have very strong feeling of his stature. Any mistake could blow big clouds over our head. Make sure everything is right and correct. We don't want it to hurt us more than help. I don't want to hear any bickering between us about making his life story. We should act with respect and dignity. We must learn to be civilized the way he wanted all of us be.

In principle, producing the Jayvaraman VII is a greatest idea to all Khmers in particular, but what remains questioned is who is going to do it and how doing it. That is a very important thing, because this movie is going to be a history.

So what we are going to do is to choose the right director. The fox above (6:09am) whose preference for Thai film is the choice of entertaining. This absolutely cannot be mixed up with the movie of Jayvarman VII, because Jayvarman VII is about history and reference of great era of ancient Khmer Kingdom. Selection for either Thai or VN director for this movie would be another controversy. Why not Khmer director? Do we have Khmer one? Why wouldn't we try Mr. Pan Rithy? He is a well respect director in the filming industry. I have never known him, but his films are admirable.

Star search is to find out who should be an actor,The applications should open for all native Cambodian people only.
After the applications excepted, They need to be trainded from A through Z.
We all understand that knowledge is power. If we going to do it,we going to do it right.
We need to let the whole world known about our khmer History.
