A piece of news which pleases the public is the planned release of Member of Parliament Cheam Channy by the military court after Samdech Hun Sen signed the decree reducing the sentence of this opposition Member of Parliament by four years from the original seven years military jail.
Mr. Son Chhay, the Sam Rainsy Party Member of Parliament, as well as the defense lawyer of Mr. Cheam Channy had briefly informed Keo Nimol, RFA’s news reporter, about the planned release of Mr. Cheam Channy, they said that based on documents they have seen up to this Sunday [including a signed pardon letter from King Sihamoni], Mr. Cheam Channy could be released tomorrow (Monday), the beginning of the upcoming week.
