The regrets expressed by Sam Rainsy and addressed to the Prime Minister in a letter read Friday evening on television stations had surprised numerous of his supporters. In his letter, the opposition leader expressed his regret, talked about "misbehavior" and launching unjust accusations against Hun Sen. Words which were meant to be accommodating and which "healed the injuries" of the government leader, as the latter said it in his own words. The rapid end of the crisis aroused mixed reactions among SRP supporters. Some appreciated Sam Rainsy's gesture, while others criticized his overly pliability towards Hun Sen. On Monday, Hun Sen said during his speech that "some people in charge of SRP" were not happy with Sam Rainsy's attitude. "To them, it is as if their leader is walking naked in Phnom Penh by choosing to cast back the accusations which he held against me for several years," he added. The Prime Minister rushed in to defend the behavior of his political opponent. "Those who criticize their leaders must think hard. When you break something that belongs to someone else, you have to repair it," he said.
Yim Sovann, SRP's MP, said that he agrees with the majority, "in order to respect the democracy rule." "As far as I am concerned, I support Sam Rainsy because his gesture is a good thing for the country," the MP affirmed. Sok Raty, SRP deputy leader of the Phsar Chas district, said that this turn around was necessary "for the needs in the building of the country." "If we are divided, we are signing our death warrant," he declared while adding that the letter from the SRP's President was nevertheless not well taken by the base members of the party. Touch Meng Sreang, head of Boeung Sa Lang district, said to be shocked by the words of his President, but he believed that was the only thing to do. "We took a great step back so we can make several forwards," he is persuading himself.
Asked about the turnaround initiated in his political strategy, Sam Rainsy explained this weekend from Paris that he concocted the decision after "long consultations with his colleagues." "It is not a decision taken lightly, but a collegiate one. And the relays exist within the party to spread these messages among the militants. Up to now, my colleagues are reporting that 97% of the party base understand and support these choices."

WATCH YOUR MOUTH
I all along admire SRP political platforms. I knew from the beginning that SR is a brave, most less corrupt and honest among KH politicians, and straighttalk. He speaks out what he thinks is right for Cambodians. Next time, wiggling your tongue a hundred times before you say something, which will surely come to hunt you, MISTER BIG MOUTH!! You should be very glad that SRP still in one piece during you out.
To concentrate on speech is important, but to bow down to our opponents is not appropriate to inspire our militants. Next time, don't forget to use a wise mouth and wise attitude if you want to be a well-known leader. However, I am still thinking that your confession is not from your heart, but your surrendering to Hun Sen's wise manipulation.
