The president of the National Assembly, Prince Norodom Ranariddh, informed [the press] that the prime minister of Vietnam, Mr. Phan Van Khai, will be visiting Cambodia at the end of March.
Prince Ranariddh said that he does not know the exact date of the visit of the Vietnamese prime minister, but he said that he is planning on asking the Cambodian prime minister to hold more discussions on the national integrity of Cambodia.
Prince Ranariddh declared on his interview with RFA that up to now, even though Vietnam already took over Koh Tral [known as Phu Quoc in Vietnamese], it has not yet accepted Cambodia's proposal on using the Brévié line as the [maritime] border [between the two countries].
The Prince said that during the visit of Phan Van Khai, the Vietnamese prime minister, at the end of next month, he is asking Hun Sen to add this issue into their discussions.
Prince Ranariddh said: "Now, Vietnam did not even accept the Brévié line [as the border]. I am informing prime minister Hun Sen that during his talk with Vietnam, in particular with the prime minister of Vietnam who will be visiting Cambodia at the end of March, he [Hun Sen] should tell Vietnam that it demanded and took Koh Tral as theirs based on the decision made by Brévié, a Frenchman, in 1939. This is alright, but you [Vietnam] took over Koh Tral, but you did not accept the Brévié line, this is not acceptable. We must protest this issue because Vietnam wants to take more than that. I already told Samdech Hun Sen that I and all of us are badly hurt, but we agreed not to demand Koh Tral back, thus Vietnam should accept the Brévié line [as border] in return."
